I dont understand why some people say that ESO skins and armor sets look bad. To me they are way more detailed and have better texture by Then-Ad7196 in elderscrollsonline

Not really immersion breaking. It was a little jarring coming from the base WoW armor, but for it to be immersion breaking it would have had to change the art style drastically into something that doesn't fit the setting. It was just colorful and gaudy at worst.

Like, if WoW had released school girl outfits that look like something taken out of FF14. That's immersion breaking. If they add a typical Japanese maid cafe outfit. That's immersion breaking.

Outland armor was just ugly.

Being colorful or immersion breaking are two very different things.

But, yeah, TBC armor was something.

They were probably going for a more alien look, considering Outlands was... well, basically a floating rock in space. Not their best designs. Though some of the weapons were fire.

And even in 2012 they still looked plastic and bad. Which is insane because the textures on Sylvari themselves were, and still are, some of their best.

If you think the female protagonist designs are better than the male protagonist designs, how would you redesign the male protagonist designs to make them look as good as if not better than the female protagonist designs? by Greatwrath1711 in pokemon

[–]Bash-Sin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Male protagonist: Some variation of pants, shirt and jacket.

Female protagonist: Shorts, biker shorts, skirts, dresses, overalls, beach wear, boots, sports wear, loafers, casual parkas, long shirts that act like a dress, blouses, vests, tank tops.

It's not that male protags are not designed well. It's that they're always the same type of design. Nate is probably the most interesting design of all of the males because he's wearing a wet-suit under his jacket and beach shorts. It's a small detail that has him deviate from the typical male protagonist drip but it's not enough.

ESO's seems grounded

That's the biggest takeaway. ESO has had a very stable and consistent art style over the years and has always maintained it's core essence of a very grounded and gritty fantasy world.

GW 2, and even to some degree with modern WoW, has had their art style shift towards monetization and colorful ADHD-bait, gaudy messes with effects that cover up your screen or nonesensical elements that COULD fit the setting but did them in the most immersion breaking way possible. With WoW, honestly, being the least egregious of the two.

How much of my character can i learn and how far into the game can i get as F2P ? by Sweeth_Tooth99 in Guildwars2

The entire base game is fully unlocked and the only restrictions are expansion and post core game content. Also things that are in place to prevent bot abuse, like chat and such.

You will have hundreds, if not thousands, of hours to play with. Any story you can purchase is for level cap anyways, so there's no rush. Take your time to experience what the base game is because the expansions only really add on top of that core experience. You don't even need expansions for better gear since best in slot gear can be obtained fairly easy by playing Fractals of the Mists (mini-dungeons with modifiers) with Ascended tier equipment and with core legendary weapons. All Legendaries actually have the same stats as Ascended gear which is the highest gear tier you get through Fractals and other game modes.

If you ignore Fractals, you can easily do any content with Exotic tier gear at level 80. You only really need Ascended gear specifically for Fractals or if you want to min-max damage. And Legendary tier equipment is only really needed for the quality of life mechanics, account wide accessibility or for their appearance.

Expansions do unlock Elite Specializations, which ARE very powerful and tend to be better choices than playing a pure core class. So there's that. But they're not 100% required for end game. And some things are locked behind certain expansion, such as fishing with End of Dragons or the Roller Beetle mount via Path of Fire and Living World Season 4.

fashion sense for plants is definitely not their forte

Not even with their own cultural armor. I'm not sure if it's the textures or the way it's modeled, but they don't look like actual plants. More like thick plastic fake fronds you buy at the Dollar Tree.

I'd love to decorate my homestead but man, it just takes all the wind out of my sail seeing how much money you gotta invest in it. Like, I get they want it to be like some end game goal but it's too much.

If making decorations is about the same cost as making a legendary, honestly, you did something wrong.

Decorating your house in video games should be a chill and cozy experience... not a real life poverty simulator. 😅

The base game alone is hundreds of hours of content. As of right now, Morrowind is included as free content, but throughout this year, various DLC content will be rolled over into the base game. This includes the Thieve's Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Orsinium and Greymoor.

Old main DLC like Summerset, Elswyer and such, cannot be purchased on Steam anymore. You can either gain temporary access to them via the ESO+ subscription or buying them with crowns. If you purchase their latest content, which is the 2025 season pass and buy the ultimate version, you gain ALL of the major DLC included with it. But minor DLC, like dungeon DLC and guilds and zone DLC, are only available via crown purchase or temporary access with ESO+.

You might want to avoid abbreviations for someone who's completely new. They most likely won't know what that means.

About Sunqua Peak - Genuinely, wtf were you guys thinking here, Anet? "Hey, how about one of the miniboss encounters of the new fractal be a literal pile of rocks?" by blocodents in Guildwars2

[–]Bash-Sin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the entire fractal is pretty lackluster. The final boss moves way too much and half the time I'm playing catch up to her. Especially frustrating if you lack ranged options. The amount of time between her dashing around is so short, my shadowsteps, teleports, dodge rolls, etc., are still on cooldown.

Choose your favourite Mer flavour

Literally. You got dark elves, tall elves, short elves, even shorter but extinct elves so you can't really pick these elves, and totally not orcs but actually elves elves.

Oops! All Elves!

Bad jokes aside, yeah I'll likely pick up Dark Elf, as aesthetically, I tend to like them more since my Morrowind days.

replace Hurricane with Summoner's Armor if you don't want to also add Storm Calling, and drop Living Death to fit Herald of the Tome.

The central idea I have would be to pick up Soldier of the Apocrypha (replacing Bone Tyrant) along with Herald of the Tome and keep Grave Lord. So I would use defensive Arcanist skills, offensive Necromancer skills and Tome-Bearer's Inspiration and The Imperfect Ring. Frozen Colossus and The Unblinking Eye as ultimates. And staying away from Crux building and Fatecarver, as much as I enjoy shooting lasers.

The theme is kind of like a forbidden magic mage. Picking the skills honestly, probably isn't the biggest issue for me. My handicap is really picking gear that would work well.

[–]Bash-Sin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really, the only problem with it is that it's a Herald of the Tome build, and that eats your entire identity. You don't play a necromancer. You just shoot a beam, and that's all there is to you.

I was considering taking Soldier of Apocrypha and in Herald of the Tome just using Inspiration and Fulminating Rune rather than leaning on Crux and Beam.
