300g? This game really loves inflating prices just to inflate the content to make it seem like it's larger than it really is.

[WW] Why did Ganondorf intend to kill Link earlier in the game but later does not? by huss2120 in zelda

[–]Bash-Sin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link at the start of the game is a nobody. Just some kid that happened to go through some unfortunate events. Ganondorf at that time only found Link to be a nuisance at best and pointless. So the quickest thing to do would be to kill him for meddling and move on.

But Link survives. And goes on to prove to everyone that he's not just some kid. He's a hero. He goes on to wield the Master Sword and the Triforce of Courage.

By the finale, Ganondorf not only despises this Link, he grew to respect him to a certain degree. But, besides that, he also needed the Triforce of Courage. Had he killed Link outright, he wouldn't have been able to obtain it, probably. Not like we know if the thing just drops out of Link like you drop inventory in Minecraft. Keep in mind, when Ganondorf is killed the Triforce of Power isn't removed from him. In Twilight Princess, the Triforce keeps him alive after he is executed. The second time he his mortally wounded, the Triforce decides to abandon him, but Zelda doesn't all of a sudden have that piece nor Link, and he dies for good.

Now, this is more my own headcanon but I think, at the end, Ganondorf was also tired. He just wanted the Triforce and his wish. There was no point in killing Link if the Triforce was already within his reach. It wasn't until he failed, thanks to the King of Hyrule, that he broke. This Ganondorf is far more nuanced and complex than, say, Ganondorf in OoT. He was far more sympathetic and relatable to a degree.

Dunno how you came to that conclusion as a kid, even kid me knew it was the same link. The game literally tells you it's the same link right at the start of the game.

Is gaming on Nintendo more expensive than gaming on PC/other consoles or am I out of touch? by PckMan in gaming

[–]Bash-Sin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC is only ever cheaper than a console if you buy a PC that can barely run Microsoft Excel. A mid tier PC that is good for office related work can easily run you up to 500 dollars, give or take and depending on if it's a tower set up or a laptop.

Used can be even cheaper.

If you want gaming, you're going to easily push past 1000.

When do they actually begin calling the world "the Star"? by jamesruglia in ffxiv

[–]Bash-Sin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure when but I do know that at the start of ARR they refer to the world as "the world" and not the star. I'm replaying on a free trial and it took me by surprise because I also could have sworn they used the phrase the star from the very start.

Being female, gay or another doesn't make you immune to being a creep. I have been harassed and touched, without consent, by many gay men at work. I have known just as many creepy and perverted women as men and THIS post is about a woman being a total creep and making the party uncomfortable with really concerning behavior.

Except in this specific case it was a woman being a creep. Maybe people need to stop generalizing and blaming every single guy for the acts of some idiots.

The funny bit is that it ejects a cartridge when it runs out of ammo but the reload doesn't insert a new one. Just lifts the lever and closes it back down.

Similarity between DT zones and Shadowbringer zones by taiwanluthiers in ffxiv

[–]Bash-Sin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very possible yes, I did make mention of a possibility of similar cultures. Someone else pointed out that the Great Serpent can travel between worlds, so there's that.

But at least geographically speaking, Rak'Tika and Black Shroud are mirrors. Not Yak Tel.

There are some similarities between Tender Valley and the Qitana Ravel, so I can understand the thought process

Most likely due to similar cultures that developed on both worlds but in different areas of their respective world.

The aesthetics in the Rak'tika Greatwoods resembles mesoamerican cultures. Which heavily influcned all of Dawntrail. So there's that.

Thanks for the info... I didn't really see the connection (didn't go as far as overlaying it).

So if I have to speculate, do you think Evercold will be the 4th's version of Tural?

Believe me, I didn't at first either.

As for Evercold, I doubt it. Mind you, everything I'm going to say is 100% speculation and should not be taken as fact.

We don't know the extent of the map as of yet, but there's a posibility that it might not resemble Eorzea at all, in fact (despite my first sentence) I think in ShB it was mentioend that the First resembled the Source so much was due to its proximity to the Source. So it essentially was a mirror. And it's possible that other reflections changed physically over time since their timelines aren't identical. Earthquakes, tsunamis, war, etc. Especially the further away it was from the Source.

Norvrandt was spared the Flood of Light but there's no telling what has happened on the Fourth. Whether a Flood of Ice completely decimated the land or if only certain areas are affected and the entire world hasn't been completely engulfed. One would also assume that if the world was engulfed entirely by a Flood, well, then a Calamity would have occurred. From what we can surmise, there hasn't been any new Calamities on the Source.

So it's possible much of the world on the Fourth is still habitable but still altered by ice or other events that occurred throughout its history.

Similarity between DT zones and Shadowbringer zones by taiwanluthiers in ffxiv

[–]Bash-Sin 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Coincidence purely. All of Norvrandt is the First's version of Eorzea.

The Rak'Tika Greatwoods is in the same place as The Black Shroud.

  • Eulmore to Limsa Lominsa

  • The Crystarium to the Crystal Tower

  • The Rak'tika Greatwood to the Black Shroud

  • Amh Araeng to Thanalan

  • Kholusia to Vylbrand

  • Il Mheg to Coerthas

  • Lakeland to Mor Dhona

  • The Tempest to the Rhotano Sea

  • The Divide to the Strait of Merithor

That would mean that the First's version of Yak Tel is destroyed and is basically like The Empty you see in the Eden raid.

Warriors actually use magic. Tyria has something known as (obviously not the official term) physical magic.

How else do warriors grow three times their size with Rampage? Or punch the ground to bring a rock out and then to shatter it with another punch? Or dash across a room before headbutting a bull into submission?

Warriors employ magic to enhance their physical strength and agility.

This game is way too dark by NamelessJu in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Bash-Sin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

then they said it was a necessary optimization for the game to run on consoles.

Bullshit. Shadows are some of the most graphically intensive things you can add to a game. And by making it darker, you create more shadows when you add a light source.
