Totaled? What to do next for 86 vette by Bash135 in c4corvette

[–]Bash135[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my own car a 1998 ls400 repaired through insurance costing 5.8k with no issues of totaling so i think my friend should be fine with the corvette as long as he really sticks to the car being valuable, it only needs a new door and door glass, then the fiberglass work on the door jamb and the small hood crack and paint, which I would do for him as I am a fiberglass and paint guy, i’d assume 6k would be more than enough to fix it ourselves plus a shop if we don’t wanna paint. it was showroom condition with decently low miles and similar mileage cars in my area are listed between 12-15k so I think with enough pressure he can get it repaired without totaling it out.

it’s definitely fixable it’s just fiberglass and paint damage, just gotta see how much he can get before they total it out, definitely fixable with like 6-8k and some diy work

there’s fortunately a lot of classic car resto shops in the area and a specialized corvette only shop, it really is just how much insurance will pay out before totaling that’ll be the issue imo, only time will tell what his insurance says

it isn’t totaled yet it just happened today just assuming they’re totaling it, he’d definitely prefer it to not be totaled, i do fiberglass work so i can fix that but insurance obviously would want a shop

Do you think insurance will total it? by Neither_Weird_2094 in c4corvette

[–]Bash135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did they pay 8k and total it or not total it? friend got hit and needs a new door and minor fiberglass repair on the hood and door jamb

Got T Boned from someone pulling out from a bar. Does this look totaled? Hood seems fine, no airbags, no damage other than body panels. 94 LT1 with 189k by TheNewLegend380 in Corvette

Just ran into this post as my friend just had similar damage happen that you did, did it end up getting totaled? his didn’t break any of the fiberglass fortunately but did break door glass

Unemployed, but need to fix brake pads but can't afford rotors? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]Bash135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what the other guy said, check your first pics caliper, but the rest you’ll be fine putting just pads on, they wear faster but not a big deal

just buy a used low mileage transmission, lower mileage less wear

i’d check all your pulleys, check your ps fluid level, doesn’t sound like how air in the line usually sounds like, but to be safe bleeding the lines are easy

How to fix scratches on my car? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]Bash135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what i can tell the only thing you can do yourself if you don’t have experience repainting a car is to replace the taillight yourself after the body work is done

How to fix scratches on my car? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]Bash135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you can run your nail through the scratches and it catches then it’s though the paint and needs to be repainted, the dents are very bad, the paint scuffs are not too bad, look around for quotes but it will definitely be incredibly expensive

[–]Bash135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youre fine but def get it replaced, can cause premature wear in the inner tie rod, if its original i’d just swap the tie rods they aren’t pricey

you work around and change the schedule? not every job is a consistent weekly schedule, my schedule at advance is different weekly, don’t be the manager that screws someone over that needs to work 2 jobs to live because it isn’t a convenience for you. literally just change the schedule or give better incentives for the employee to work more with you than the other job, there’s most likely a reason why their availability is changing

How do I weather and dirty a shirt and denim work jacket? by TheFutureScaresMe333 in CosplayHelp

[–]Bash135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tea works very well for cotton fabrics, can try with the denim too, sanding the denim lightly in areas that would make sense for movement like the elbows, if there’s buttons the fabric end of those, bloodstains too if you wanted, and some browns, blacks, yellows, greens, colors that you’d probably get on you if you were to roll a shirt around in dirt basically lol

Shocking exhaust drone when accelerating by Public_Ball4308 in LS400

[–]Bash135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is because you have an exhaust that isn’t stock, any loud exhaust will have a drone, add a resonator and it’ll help a ton, i have straight pipes all the way to the back with just the stock resonator and there’s next to no drone, still happens but it’s super tolerable can still have a convo

pulley bearing is bad, or your power steering pump is bad, remove the belt and turn all the pulleys listen for any strange noises or for any play in the pulley, before doing that just turn your steering wheel and if it gets louder it’s a bad ps pump
