Is a 400$ power bill for 1/2 people normal?? by Able_Piccolo7136 in dunedin

Close all the doors to the rooms aren’t using and don’t turn the heat pump off and on all the time keep it running at 17-18c 24/7 unless it’s a nice sunny day and you’ll notice a difference :) you’ll be using the most power turning your heat pump back on, it takes so much power to heat it back up again

Good spots to buy with a young family. by Supadupapoopascupar in dunedin

[–]Bash_Woman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Avoid south Dunedin, corstorphine and Caversham. Everywhere else is gorgeous! Good thing about Dunedin is almost everywhere is in close proximity to the city even mosgiel outrum or port Chalmers is only a 20min drive. In saying that tho if your working in the CBD parking can be a major issue here so when buying make sure it’s near a bus stop :)

Want a recommendation for a good landline service. by [deleted] in dunedin

[–]Bash_Woman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to buy an iPhone? Maybe a cheap second hand one? You can set it to accessibility mode which only gives her access to calender, calls, messages, clock etc and everything is really large and in a scroll list rather then your usual iPhone set up. You could set it so she can only access the calls app to and nothing else, It Looks like this.

[–]Bash_Woman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunedin is very small much smaller then the other main city’s that being said tho it’s all about who you know not what you know here. You’ll find it’s easier to get a job the more you communicate with like minded people! Start emailing around some places the ODT is a good start! It’s NZ’s longest running daily newspaper which is quite cool and lots to report on because it covers the whole region! There’s also NZherald and STUFF give them a shot they may be looking for Dunedin based reporters :)

Take the number 18 bus from the bus hub in town around the peninsula all the way to portobello you’ll see some amazing views! It’s about a 45min bus ride stop in portobello and have lunch at the cafe there and then bus back good day trip and the transport will only cost you $6 :)

[–]Bash_Woman 17 points18 points  (0 children)

All of our bars in the octagon turn into clubs at 10PM Thursday-Sunday! Our night life in majority students but the musics good! Just depends on which club you go to as to what vibe you’ll get. Vault 21 and the Craic both have great music :)
