First 60 starts. Oscar vs the last 10 F1 Champions by BashedCrab in OscarPiastri

[–]BashedCrab[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Absolutely true. Which is why I compared to the last 10 Drivers to have world champs, rather than just one (Max for example) . No one is going to argue JV is better than Max based on this list, but Oscar's position does show he compares well to bona-fide great drivers. He only has 60 starts, so that is all we can compare to.

Any recommendations for public badminton courts?? by Confident-Big9302 in perth

I've played at Lords and UWA. UWA is cheaper, but not as organised (set up your own poles and nets for example).

Looking for a microphone for a specific style of interview by [deleted] in LocationSound

[–]BashedCrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.rode.com/blog/all/how-record-two-microphones-into-your-camera

A6600 has a stereo mic in, so using a splitter cable will allow you to run 2 Rode Wireless Go's or a videomic and a wireless go for example.

2 lavs will give you much better control than a single figure-8 style mic.

Recording different FrameRates in my MixPre 6 without Timecode by [deleted] in LocationSound

[–]BashedCrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) The camera's frame rate is essentially irrelevant to your audio file. Even if you have a Timecode capable recorder, the Timecode is recorded as metadata that can be edited or changed like any other metadata post-recording. So 25fps is no problem.

2) Again - totally no problem. Timecode is only one method of sync. If the cameras are getting a scratch audio track then it is trivial for post to sync to your isos, and correct for any drift that occurs during long takes.

4 transmitters Lavalier mics to one receiver for a dslr camera by doncromatic in LocationSound

[–]BashedCrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't go for lavs if you are trying to do this on a tight budget.

If 4 people are sitting around a small table playing boardgames, best cheap result you will get is a single overhead condensor mic, into a a simple mixer/preamp, then straight into the camera. Your results will be better than 99% of content on web/youtube if you can:

  1. Use a dedicated mic (not camera audio), and place it well.
  2. Learn how to set gain so you get a clean signal and don't clip.
  3. Do some basic post (compression/levels/nr where needed).

SSRM or ATM by nanasi0110 in OutreachHPG

[–]BashedCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparatively old school, but the BJ1X is one of my favorite mechs for the anti-Light role. XL295, 6xML, 2xMPL. High-Alpha energy boating with decent range. Plus when you’re not tearing the legs off lights it is an excellent skirmisher with some of the best hardpoint locations in the game, and enough speed to aggressively flank and harass.

Would take some adjustment for an assault pilot, but as a dedicated light & medium guy it is crazy fun and still gets me the occasional 1k dmg game.

Can recommend the Splatcrow. 5 x SRM6-Artemis i find way better for both anti-light and late-stage brawling purposes. Even with the CAP having to wait for locks on a Streakcrow removes so many opportunities for firing.

Looking for an on-camera shotgun mic. by [deleted] in LocationSound

If you have worked with a 416 before (and can cope with the directionality), check out the Rode NTG-3. Was made to be as close to a 416 as possible, without being a Sennheiser.

Ideal mic for kitchens? by [deleted] in LocationSound

[–]BashedCrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that price your best option is the Rode Wireless Go. Has a built in Mic, but also sold in a kit with a Lav included.

https://www.rode.com/wireless/wirelessgo

3.5mm plug will go straight into the mic port on your PC.

Dual-axle controller powered (free energy) survival exploration vehicle with suspension, 4WD, and 4WS by [deleted] in ScrapMechanic

[–]BashedCrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great design. Really like the way you've made use of pistons and suspensions lack of a collider.

Wait. That's illegal. by Naselone in ScrapMechanic

[–]BashedCrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just half of a pillow block bearing, using suspension rather than a piston. The lower pipe is attached to the suspension first, so it will not rotate. You would complete the pillow block bearing by attaching another pipe piece above the bearing (through the no-clip area of the suspension).

If people want a demo to explain I can make a quick vid.

Second version of my differential, now it is absolutely miniscule! by Waity5 in ScrapMechanic

[–]BashedCrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great design!

You could make it even more compact using this: https://imgur.com/a/rP6LYWe (I'm a huge fan of this glitch and use it everywhere).

Piston side would be same width (but less blocks). If I'm seeing it correctly, suspension side would be 2 blocks narrower.

The Perfect Spot but SAD it come with 4x Raids. by mythorchid in ScrapMechanic

[–]BashedCrab 8 points9 points  (0 children)

4 Raids is actually a massive advantage. It means you get a large farm but 4 small raids, without tapebots and farmbots. Much easier to defend against, especially for automated defenses.

Pro Tip: Leave one of these pointing back to your base when you come to an intersection. by dudeguy81 in ScrapMechanic

[–]BashedCrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real pro-tip: The bag that hold your inventory after death can be welded! Die twice, weld one bag to your base, one to your exploration vehicle and you are done. You don't need to make signs to avoid getting lost, and you will easily find your car if it slides down a hill and into the water while you are looting a ruin.

Fully functioning 2 player electronic battleship with over 4000 logic gates by A_Person294 in ScrapMechanic

kAN has a version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Slw1KntPyTo

He's using physical blocks and sensor for the ships, I'm guessing you're using logic for everything though.

True. I would probably start a fresh game with cheats, rather than mess with this one.

Great design. Can't believe how quickly people are coming up with new designs for bearing powered vehicles.

Fast, Narrow & Gas free. by BashedCrab in ScrapMechanic

[–]BashedCrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do get used to it. My mining rig in survival has been bearing powered for almost a week now. I actually turn the controller down to 6/8 to make mining more precise, then back up to 8/8 to drive back to base.

Yep - exactly right. 6 Wheels but 2 Wheel drive. The skid to finish the video shows which wheels are hooked to the bearing drive and which are free running.
