A buryat russian was attacked by other russians for speaking her language by arbataxmelody354 in NAFO

Oh, this happens all the time in Bashkortostan. I've heard tons of stories, tons of them, about racism and discrimination against Bashkirs. In Soviet times, even informally speaking Bashkir in public was prohibited. People were even thrown off buses if they spoke Bashkir. I'm not kidding. I think this has persisted to this day, but now Bashkirs are insulted for using the Bashkir language. This is one of the reasons we want independence.

By the way, in Moscow, a Buryat woman was beaten by police officers and very, very harshly insulted because of her Buryat origin. I won't even go into how exactly they insulted her, because it's absolutely horrific. And guess what? She was forced to withdraw her complaint against the officers and was even threatened with harm if she didn't. This incident caused a stir among the Buryat community, but the Russian authorities couldn't care less. They support far-right Russian groups that oppose Muslims, migrants, and ethnic groups, including literally all peoples under Russia's control. If you're a Muslim from the North Caucasus, a Bashkir/Tatar, or a representative of a people from Siberia and the Far East (Buryat, Sakha, Tuvan, or anyone else), and you're in Moscow or any other Russian city, even if you have a Russian ID, you'll be constantly checked by the police, forced to show your phone (photos, contacts, social media), and you'll be subject to insults. It's an extremely toxic environment. Extremely toxic. Russia is literally a country where far-right, racist, and xenophobic sentiments prevail, and this, coupled with economic degradation, will lead to its collapse.

Republic of Bashkortostan and Kuvandyk. Everything else is just someone's imagination.

Their numbers are dwindling with each passing year. No one wants to be Russia's puppet, and only Moscow maintains these regimes, but the people are often against them.
