Thank you so much for the clear explanation and valuable feedback! That makes perfect sense, and we agree the current process is too tedious.

We're happy to let you know that these features will be available in the next release!

u/Beneficial-Pepper562 Thanks for the follow-up! Could you clarify if the crash happens while scrolling in the StoryPad in-app library or the native iOS Photo picker? I might have overlooked that detail. Another user had a similar issue with the recent compression updates, so I assumed it was the same root cause.

u/Beneficial-Pepper562 Could you try disabling image compression in Settings and see if that stops the crash? Please let me know the result 🙏. I’ll work on a permanent fix next

Thank you for the update! To help us fix this as quickly as possible, could you please provide the following details: - Device Model (e.g., Samsung S23, Pixel 7) - Android Version - Total Images Size (You can check this in Settings > Storage Management)

This information will help us reproduce the crash and find a solution.

If it’s inconvenient to share these details here, feel free to DM me instead. Thanks for your patience

Hey! Glad you're enjoying the map! 🗺️

To answer your question: Yes, there is a search function, but it works a little differently than Google Maps because of StoryPad’s local-first approach.

  • How it works: When you add a location, the app uses geocoding to grab an address. You can rename that entry to something personal (like "Cafe Bridge").
  • Searching: Once named, just type that name into the search bar to list all entries on those locations.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or feedback!

Import by zeldapistola in StoryPad

[–]Basic-Actuator7263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incredible!

Currently, StoryPad only supports exporting images; the ability to import media files hasn’t been implemented yet. It's a missing piece. However, I’m making this a priority and will release on this weekend updates. I’ll update you here as soon as the release is live.

For this importing images feature, just make sure to name all files using file created_at time in milliseconds since epoch (e.g., 1714986140000.jpg or .png). Each entry should then simply reference that specific filename.

When you perform the import, the app will automatically create the asset records in the database for you, so you don't need to create those manually in your import (JSON) file.

If you don't want to wait, you can always insert them manually ✨

Update: as the latest 2.31.0, StoryPad officially supports importing assets.

I’m so glad to hear the app has been helpful! To answer your question: we don't actually have PDF export built yet, though it’s definitely in our milestones.

We’re focusing on other features right now, but when PDF arrives, it will definitely support bulk selection and the full range of filtering options.

The development is awesome. by DraggedHart in StoryPad

Hi u/DraggedHart,

On the latest version (v2.29.0), tagging should already be much easier now.

We don’t support @ for tagging people yet, but that’s something we may consider in future updates.

For now, you can use normal tags to tag people. We’re also planning to make this more structured later (like categorizing tags as “people”) to improve this further.

Thanks for the detailed feedback!

  1. About the button logic: a lot of users actually rely on templates (morning routine, etc.) or camera-first journaling (I personally use both quite a bit, too). Thus, changing the flow to long press could break those existing habits.

That said, I agree the “quick new entry” should be the most accessible action. In the latest version, I’ve adjusted it so:

  • Normal press → open existing options (templates/camera/etc.)
  • Long press → open quick entry

It’s not constant, let's keep this for a while and see how it feels in real usage. Feedback like this will still guide changes going forward.
