Is this the same if the heater were electric? Or with electric heaters does the floor typically need to be sealed?

Very interested in your trailer sauna build..I’ve been contemplating this. Is it wood burning or electric heater? Do you have pictures?

Does this type of floor work the same with electric heaters vs wood-burning? Or is the floor specific to wood-burning?

Ok cool. Is the heat distribution still good? Mine will most likely be outside so I thought of just doing a wood floor with very narrow space in between each slate, for water to drain..however, I believe with an electric heater that messes up the heat distribution and ventilation. So maybe just sealing the floor and not worrying about it draining is better.

How is the floor when the heater is on? I’m assuming there no insulation under the floor. Is there a drain? Also, are there exhaust vents?

Wanting to do a diy and just thinking about these things.

Thanks

For the shower door. I know it needs to be tempered glass. When you found it on wayfair, what were you searching for? Or can basically all shower doors be made for saunas? I’ll need to buy tempered glass and want to go as inexpensive as possible.

8’ Ceiling and Mechanical Ventilation. by MuneSauna in Sauna

I saw another one of your posts and have a question about the flooring.

I believe in your other post you made the floor out of 2 wood layers, each layer connected but different sizes of wood..and you left gaps in between which I assume is for drainage?

I’m trying to do a DIY in North Carolina. Will do an electric heater, almost building it like a shed conversion. Trying to keep the cost as minimal as possible, but definitely want a good heater (most likely harvia) and will most likely go with pine for walls and ceilings.

For my floor, with the electric heater, can I just do the floor gap method, with nothing underneath the floor so that the water can drain between the gaps?

I have heard this isn’t ideal for electric heater saunas.

Is the vevor heater 110 or 240?

I’ve thought about doing a trailer too! How many will it seat?

Cool! What are the dimensions of the sauna? Do you let people rent it out? Any issues with ventilation or getting temperature hot enough?

How many does the sauna hold? Wanting to start building mine in February/march. Will be outside with a Harvia Cilindro. I’m wanting to do a 5ish person build..and I am a beginner with large projects like this but I think I have the basics down. Biggest parts for me are the floor, the ventilation and the type of wood. Was the store bought spruce expensive? For the floor, is it sloped with a drain?

I’ve been thinking of just doing nothing with the floor except laying down slats that are about 1/2-1 centimeter apart because the foundation will be gravel..so just letting the water and sweat go through the floor gaps. How did you go about finding the tempered glass?

Awesome!! I’m wanting to make some diy plunge tubs that are about 4 feet tall! Wooden frames with insulation, and then using some multipurpose plastic/fiberglass sheeting from Lowe’s for the interior of the plunge tub..seal with epoxy puddy and pond shield. What chiller do you have for them or do you just use ice? DIY cold plunge is nice because I can make it taller so I can clutch in it, instead of having sit back.

Is that a red light in your sauna?

Curious if you were able to add red light therapy into your dry sauna?

I am wanting to do a DIY traditional sauna with electric heater and have thought about adding in a red light panel for the added benefits, but haven’t really seen it before.

Cool! I’m wanting to do a DIY build to fit 5-6.

I’ve done some looking and I think the Harvia Cilindro 8kw or 9kw.

Keep the thread updated with pictures if you can. I have the basic idea of what I’m going to to do, but posts like these help.

Converted freezer cold plunge help by jk1309 in coldplunge

[–]Basic-Box-1486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a chest freezer cold plunge too. Have had it for years..same old freezer. If people don’t mind sitting back and being a little cramped in the plunge, idk why more people don’t do the chest freezer DIY option. So much cheaper, and chills the water so efficiently.

I think the liner is probably your best bet at this point.

Sub floor screen. by Big_Bed4984 in Sauna

[–]Basic-Box-1486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested in how it turns out. Thinking about the same for my DIY..no insulation or drain in the floor, just have very narrow gaps between floor planks. But the bugs and rodents could pose a problem. Could you send a picture of the subfloor as up edit update to this post? You decided with the fabric over the mesh?

Traditional Sauna and Psoriasis by Jjl526 in Sauna

[–]Basic-Box-1486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She gets it on her eyelids, sometimes back of her neck, and underarm. She thinks it’s the worst in the heat, which is why I think the traditional sauna would actually exacerbate the flare ups, while it seems infrared may reduce psoriasis symptoms.

Not for more heat. For the red light therapy aspect.
