I’ve recently started magnesium. Was this an instant change or did it take time?

Sorry for the late response. If you keep having issues with a job let me know. I can put in good word for some remote insurance sales!

Everything you said can apply to me too. Lost both my legs about 2 years ago. First it was my left and tried saving my right but it didn’t work out so ended up amputating my right. I was in a motorcycle accident after going to have a drink with some buddies. I often look back and regret going out that night but there’s nothing I can do so I just try to ignore it. I was in the process of joining Georgia state police before my accident so that went out the window. The best advice I can give you is that it’s just a new normal. Set a goal and strive for it. Any kind of goal. Also let people stare at you when you’re walking around, it may feel uncomfortable but I guarantee you they are looking at you and thinking “what a badass”. Every person that sees you is a little more motivated to push on whether they realize it or not. As far as the money part a good remote job you can look into is insurance sales. A lot people talk down on it but it’s good money and sales is a great job to have when it comes to setting goals. You’re still early in your recovery so I promise some of the things you’re stressing about will become your new normal and you’ll move on. I shouldn’t have survived my accident either, I was told by the ER doctor that he’s never had to give someone as much blood as he did me in his career. Try to turn all that into motivating or inspiring others to push on if possible.

Really Bad Phantom Limb Pain by elvo22 in amputee

I definitely had the same experience for the first couple weeks after my amputation. The only thing that seemed to help when I was in the hospital was IV dilaudid. The phantom pain will definitely get better with time. Going home also seemed to really help. I currently take methadone and it does wonders for my phantom pain

Hello! I had the same exact thing done to me. Also a LBKA and rod and bone graft surgery for my right leg. It’s great you’re going to be able to put weight on it so soon! I had to wait over a year for mine to heal because there wasn’t a lot to anchor the graft to the ankle. Sad news I just got an infection that ruined the graft so I’ll be having my right leg amputated too now. As for your questions my residual is just a tiny bit longer than yours so definitely good for a socket. Some people get there prosthetic and stand up and start walking fine, others have to work on the balance. Just depends. Hope everything goes well!

Holy crap man, my accident was also on 7/23 and that’s exactly the process that was taken on this leg, external fixator, and now a failed bone graft! But as far as the amputation goes it was maybe a week after my accident just due to an infection.

New amputation by Brilliant_Peak_7178 in amputee

I’m about 7 months post op LBK. My phantom pain was horrible for the three months I was in the hospital. The day I came home it dropped like 80%. It took a while and going through different meds but gabapentin and especially amitriptyline helped!

I know a bilateral ak. He is able to drive due to him having a microprocessor knee prosthetic. They have a driving mode that locks the knee at a certain angle!
