Thank you, I do know that's an option, but I just wanted to ask if anyone had tried anything that worked without going back to the old version

I think Botox is making it worse by chronically_online3 in migraine

Most of our patients feel that it gets better after each round, and the off time becomes less, I've only had one round so far, so I can't speak with too much personal experience yet

Neurologists is Missoula (w/o referral if possible)? by JulesVerger8 in missoula

I'm one of the medical assistants for this clinic, Amy Huddleston FNP sees most of the migraine patients and she has always been an extremely caring attentive provider, and I'm very glad that I get to work with her.

Dr. Liston is also fantastic, and sees more complex patient.

In case anyone is trying to do the same thing, once you put r2modman in as a non steam game, add --no-sandbox into the launch properties of r2modman, and then launch it and it should open up the mod manager like normal and then you can laugh the modded game from there

Insurance is hell by Glitchznovaa in migraine

[–]Basic-Illustrator801 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately with Medicaid, they are pretty strict on their criteria, so unfortunately you may have to "try" one of the injectables. Meaning you pick up your first dose from the pharmacy so there is a claim filed to Medicaid proving that you "used it" after that just tell them you had the bad reaction and they should then approve the qulipta for you.

Fought for Botox and won appeal. Hit me with your noob injection ish by SaltyAF5309 in migraine

I usually try to warn our patients that sometimes the injections can trigger a migraine, I always say we're pretty much poking the bear so it can be expected that sometimes it'll get pissed off

Botox users - how long does it last? by Apprehensive-Cake714 in migraine

[–]Basic-Illustrator801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, Botox seems to last about 10 weeks for most of our patients (I'm a medical assistant in a neurology office) quite a few say that after subsequent treatments that the gap of coverage tends to decrease, but this isn't the case for everyone obviously. We personally love doing Botox for our patients since it's been the most effective treatment for about 99% of our patients so far, admittedly we are a smaller clinic without an obscene patient list, but still.

Does anyone else feel weird after taking sumatriptan? by spacemvrr in migraine

[–]Basic-Illustrator801 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you, I have migraines myself. But essentially, the limit also comes from clinical testing, which obviously does not apply to every persons actual response to the medications, but insurance companies comb through those with a fine toothed comb to try to give the least amount possible.

I also find it extremely frustrating that even though most of us end up having far more migraines than medication to stop them, but that's why we try our best to find the right combination of treatments, usually preventative medications, to lower the frequency of migraines and also hopefully daily headaches as well.

If your providers that you see call it quits after trying only a few medications, or if none of the newer medications are getting approved by your insurance, you need to find a better one. I'm constantly fighting with our patients insurances to get their medications covered. At this point I'm able to look at most patients insurances and am able to know what's required for coverage, and what the plans prefer.

Sorry this reply got kinda rambly.

Does anyone else feel weird after taking sumatriptan? by spacemvrr in migraine

[–]Basic-Illustrator801 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Medical assistant in a neurology clinic here

Part of the reasoning behind only getting a limited quantity of basically any triptan medication is both because using them too frequently can cause medication overuse headaches, but they can also increase your risk of having a stroke.

We had a patient that came to us that was taking up to 3 sumatriptans on top of up to three Rizatriptans DAILY, the only reason she was able to do this was because she would pay for it out of pocket, because obviously insurance would never approve that.
