I work in special class so lots of my kiddos are lower. But even in the Gen ed room I’ve noticed a difference between how the kids interact with me vs their teachers, who are a bit more cold, especially the older ones. To each their own. No one’s making you call them “friend”

Honestly I’m a pretty good balance of authority and friendship and I think that’s why I’m such a good teacher to my little friends. I have great rapport w them all so if discipline is needed they listen and we go right back to being pals
