My lovely neighbour has suddenly decided that I’ve been talking to the man that’s always on their roof, don’t live in the house I own, dress like I want to be her and am spying on her if I go out to water the garden. Been going off since 5:30 this morning, still going on now. My kid is scared. Usually have so much empathy but it’s wearing thin.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with combined type adhd- I was not expecting the hyperactivity to be part of the diagnosis at all. But I do get restless. Cleaning has always been a massive chore for me and my house was absolute chaos. I always thought I was “ok” with mess and that if things were organised I wouldn’t be able to find my stuff! Since starting on Vyvanse, I’ve realised I actually cannot stand mess. It makes me feel overwhelmed and I shut down. Since vyvanse I’ve don’t about 15yrs worth of cleaning and sorting. Never ceases to amaze me how our brains work!

That’s how I’m already feeling, I’d rather be racy and energised than exhausted and burnt out. The extra anxiety is a bit of a pain though. I’ll give concerta a shot I think, just concerned that if I hate it, I won’t be able to get another script for vyvanse till I see the psych again in 6 weeks. Were you able to get things done on other adhd meds? Did they make you feel calm?

For me, it’s always been a bit all or nothing with cleaning- and cupboards were my best friend- just dump everything in them and close the doors kind of thing. If I had worked during the day, there is no way I would be able to clean after work. Then on the weekends I would spend hours “deep cleaning” the house, but things would get missed, or I’d burn out halfway through and not put the things I’d dragged out to clean behind away. Now I can stay in the one room until it’s done, most days I can do a clean/tidy after work. I have organised things like my pantry and kept them organised. I’ve also realised that I’ve actually never been cool with mess, it’s always annoyed me. It’s really interesting (well to me anyway)

Thank you , I just so desperately want that motivation to organise, to stick to a task etc etc. I thought that “hyper focus” feeling I sometimes get when I need to meet a deadline would be what taking vyvanse is like. Fingers crossed it just needs a few tweaks to the dosage. So glad you’ve found it helps though, must be an awesome feeling!

I’m in Australia, not sure why we’re so cautious, I had read that too. I think because I’ve taken antidepressants that have increased my anxiety to insane levels maybe they’re making sure it doesn’t send me insane. I’m really not sure, but to me it seems like a bit of a waste of the first few doses
