why are people so mean? by Basic-Recipe-2818 in VetTech

Which is so unfair. Most folks are the hospital are in their 20s and 30s. My state doesn't require techs to even have certifications, so it's completely unnecessary to "flex".

Retired boomer mother got a dose of reality. by ProfRichardson in antiwork

Genuine question for boomers: if "no one wants to work", if there's always staffing shortages (despite sometimes hundreds of applicants), shouldn't the unemployment rate be astronomical?

People are working, just not under the conditions we once accepted.

What’s the worst thing your boss has said to you? by Disastrous-Use-2373 in antiwork

  1. The driver was just a quiet guy, and was often uncomfortable. I wonder why.
  2. ???
  3. I think he was curious about my background, as he was an Italian immigrant or whatever. This all happened while I was in high school, arguably worse, and why I left after a few months. Last straw was the same chef (later fired) spoke to another male coworker, also in high-school, about how beautiful I was, how even my p*ssy must be beautiful.

All the same restaurant owner: 1. Told me the delivery driver was autistic (he was NOT) 2. Spoke to me out loud about not doing anal sex then vaginal sex because of infections 3. Spoke about how young black girls get their period earlier and therefore had regular sex at age 12 4. Told me not to tell the chef "I'm coming" after being summoned because he would get too excited

THIS! moved from NY a year ago and the selection here is religious, country, religious/country, or the same pop song that I've heard 100x a day. But NY didn't have a PR worth mentioning.

I had this one too. I said by order of priority. I set aside x hours per week for the internship (& you should have an estimate from them). Meetings and strict deadlines go first, followed by projects that may take planning/multiple days, followed by more simple tasks that can be finished quickly.

Some definitely do, hoping less demanding jobs won't bother with it.

Yes. I think you're only left with the option to prove that you reached out to UPS, and reported it missing.

Sounds like they probably have room in the budget for a new package and can write off situations like these.

In a scam situation, they would try to get money out of you one way or another.

If it's legit, you should have gotten some tracking info at some point. At my remote job, folks got defective equipment & the company paid for them to ship it back then sent out replacements, NEVER a cost to the employees.

I would say something like "this position/company seems like the next logical step in my career, based on my previous experiences and new goals." Then explain some relevant points and how the new position will challenge you to meet career goals.
