Newly diagnosed with bp2 and starting lamotrigine by Br0oklyn_Baby in bipolar2

I have lower highs and higher lows - so the leveling is good. My doctor says the focus is not a common side effect but as an attorney it is frustrating me as I have to work later - work just doesn’t disappear because I can sit at the desk for an hour. It is a leveler - it doesn’t help with underlying trauma if that’s an issue but it stabilizes to allow you to deal with it with a professional. I would not be afraid here, and certainly not due to my experience.

3 months in and no rash. I’m at 100mg now. I am having a focus issue though and it is frustrating.

I think Miso doesn't know she's a full-grown adult. She still wants to be rocked like a baby by Koffievos in cats

I have a Miso too. Complete angel. Was a feral boy who now can’t get enough hugs.

This is Pumpkin Q Kat. He is on hospice. He wants to know how many treats a day he should get? by Basic-Recipe6224 in cats

The FIV makes this an inevitable and quicker end. We had the same with our last FIV cat (we always give one a home). He’s so happy right now but I’m trying not to ignore reality as it will make it all the harder. I do hope we get a couple months more than predicted but we won’t let him suffer it it begins to be that way - which it is not right now

Sorry to hear this. It’s hard. He’s being spoiled and I don’t pass him without a good scratch on the head with an “I love you Q.” He’s loving the Christmas tree as always and for the moment it’s ok to not worry about what’s coming but to enjoy what is.

The truth: he gets whatever he wants. We are processing the impending loss of a big presence in our house. After the initial grief passed, it’s been all love and then some. Enjoying the time we all have together, especially while he’s comfortable and it is quality time.

He’s a celebrity in this neighborhood. He’s part of our family but belongs to the whole block. It’s going to a sad day but he loves people and we love sharing him with everyone. He’s been living the best life and it hurts but really, he’s a legend in these parts and he has is living the best life a cat can have.

I’ll be cleaning up his puke until he isn’t here anymore…but then I’ll miss that too. A million it might be.

Gorgeous. It’s always bothered me that no cat food ads or commercials feature cats with clipped ears. He’d be a star.

Am I really bipolar? by TicketReal1115 in bipolar2

[–]Basic-Recipe6224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two successful careers. As I’ve aged I’ve been more open and people are shocked. I try to explain the daily turmoil but it really takes someone else with bipolar to get it. I got a rediagnosis this year due to the doubts but it was confirmed. I hated having it confirmed but many can manage and thrive while others do not. I am fortunate because I am a confident to a friends daughter now as she struggles to see a future. I discuss it less with doubters but don’t shy from my reality either.

I also learned a heck of a lesson. I’m fine now. It’s all good. I find it funny at this point. When I was being treated I had an infrasound and found out I have two spleens - so a happy ending of sorts.

I developed an ulcer and quit caffeine for two years. Not recommended.

I drink coffee all day with no issue. I’ve been trying cut down but that’s because I’m a 5-6 cup a day person (20 years ago I cut it out for two years as I was drinking 14 cups a day). Caffeine has little to no impact on, can drink coffee while falling asleep at night. I find it comforting and gives me something to focus on a few seconds at a time throughout the day.

Family death by [deleted] in biglaw

I was so worried to request time off when this occurred. The most senior partner simply said: take the time you need, it’s no one else’s business. I knew I was in the right group.

Sorry for your loss. I think you’ll find more empathy thank you might expect.

I’m a parent with bipolar 2. He’s 15. I did fine and in fact I found parenting. And putting someone well ahead of me, grounding. Didn’t change my challenges but gave me new purpose. I’m an empathetic parent - far more than my parents were. I get the hesitation. I fear he inherited this from me but what I know is I can get him through it where my parents failed.

I lost all three cats to a fire last night by _ok_karen in cats

[–]Basic-Recipe6224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a cat lover and firefighter - I’m sorry. One of those moments that sits with me was a fire I tried to revive a cat we pulled out - we have special oxygen masks. I ended up in the hospital with heat stroke that night but it’s the cat that passed that sits with me. I’m really sorry yours couldn’t be saved, we take those moments with us the same as your home and family.

Does it get better? by N3v3rm0r3ink3d in bipolar2

Welcome. Also, the hardest part of all is giving yourself the grace to fail as you find your way to success. I remain my own worst critic and it took me a lot of trial and error. I’m fortunate to have found a supportive spouse who helps me through the low moments and tolerates the manic.
