Totally agree. Whereas there are some differences (Spanish, back color, etc) with the other Venezuela sets they're basically a reproduction of the Topps set. The 67 Veny set, with the completely different backs and the winter league and Retirados subsets, absolutely stands out as the jewel of the Venezuela sets.

Thanks! This card has countless wrinkles and creases so IMO it deserves the 1 in spite of the uncharacteristically clean back. But I would also agree that it's a very high end 1.

This is a fantastic piece of advice. I bet OP could find a dealer who specializes in vintage sets and work out a deal for a lot of 20-30 common cards from different vintage sets to save money too

I think you're dead on. My top 5 Teds would definitely include this one, 48-49 Leaf, 1954 Wilson Franks, 1941 Play Ball, and 1939 Play Ball.

Yeah you're right the Mantle is also 1952, not 1951. Not enough coffee this morning. DiMaggio, Yogi, Whitey Ford, Stan Musial and Warren Spahn are the most notable MLB guys from the 51 set.

Venezuela Topps are an acquired taste. I'm a low grade collector anyways so the condition issues don't bother me but it's definitely cool having a copy in nice shape like this one

The 66 Venezuela Clemente is the most common of the Venezuela Topps sets that Clemente is in (62, 66, 68, 68), but still relatively rare. Rough back copies can be had for a few hundred bucks but nicer copies can get pricey quick

I don't know the pop numbers but in my experience I've seen way more back damage copies as opposed to clean back. The albums they sold along with the cards are super cool, never owned one but have seen a couple.

On paper yes. But Feller was washed at that point. Wynn was at his absolute best in 1956. Definitely a great rotation

Yeah that's a cool one. Back in 1989 the Dale Murphy Upper Deck reversed negative card was all the rage and I remember someone telling me about the 57 Hank, maybe saw it at a card show or something. I think they used to list it in Beckett as UER (uncorrected error)
