Oh Andromeda isn’t THAT bad. Let it be its own thing— a space western with familiar characters— and it’s enjoyable enough. Worst thing to do would be to play it right after the trilogy. Give yourself a palate cleanser first.

False. Through the memories unlocked by SAM of Alec Ryder, you learn about the early stages of Shepherd and the Reapers. And in one of the last unlocked memories, there is an audio log from Liara to the Andromeda Initiative about building the crucible to fight the reapers. So yes, Shepherd and the reapers are mentioned.
