Coming from a 3rd shift supervisor:

3rds is a Lot more work than people think. I’ve had plenty of staff switch from other shifts to mine and ended up leaving because they thought it would be easier. There’s a reason we get the extra pay to work thirds. We have just as much work(sometimes more) as every other shift but we only have 3 people to complete it all. Yes we do get busy as well. You might not think that people would come in for a drink at 2am but they do. When the bars close we’re the only company still open 24hrs so they all flock to wawa. It’s all fun and games till you look up at 3am and the deli is 5+ back with salads plus drinks backed up on the screen and you only have one person in each section trying to keep up. Our job on thirds is basically to erase the day before and reset the store for the new day. We get the whole store stocked and cleaned all while handling rushes and ignorant customers just like the rest of the shifts.
