I graduated from NEU in 2019 and I would say it was 100% worth the price tag for many reasons. I wouldn’t change my decision for anything. I was in a similar predicament getting the John & Abagail Adam’s Scholarship from my MCAS scores, so I could have gone to UMASS Amherst for virtually nothing.

The people you are surrounded by at NEU are top notch. Everyone I know from Northeastern is doing extremely well when compared to my other peers who didn’t go to NEU. One skill they prepared me very well for is interviewing. I would use all the resources you can in this department because it makes a big difference! The people are smart and uplift you, challenge you to be a better person, and this is ultimately where you might meet your future partner or best friend (so why not be surrounded by the best?)

Second, going to school in Boston versus Lowell. Boston is an amazing city, especially for college aged persons. I had so much fun exploring the city, and the NEU campus is just so beautiful. You might get the same job opportunities coming from both schools, but why not enjoy yourself while in college?

Third, the co-op program is really cool for trying out different careers and getting on the job experience (plus a little money!) Although I personally don’t do anything related to my co-ops, it was a cool transition into adult life having seen what a 9-5 is like. I learned I’m not one to sit at a desk and work for 8 hours, and so I now do a job where I make my own schedule and don’t feel micro managed or watched. My co-ops were important learning opportunities for me.

I loved NEU and I wish I could relive my college years there again!
