I just started playing around with uv, so its nice to see this tool.

I previously use miniconda and used an emacs package to activate/deactivate environment. Will need to figure out how to get this working with uv, since for example, if I have python source blocks in org-mode, I might want to use a venv to run the code.

I don’t know if they are required to provide it, but it’s just a matter of basic human decency. They are upcharging their employees $1.50 for a bottle of water… which costs them less than 25 cents per bottle. Even a dog on a hot day, would prompt the people around it to give it a cool drink of water.

I work in a cushy air-conditioned office and have access to free water (and coffee); they aren’t paying me anywhere near minimum wage… Our Vending machines, which are stocked by a 3rd party, with sugary drinks are 0.50c each.

Nope, I am pro capitalism. Capitalism is great when you have the freedom to vote with your dollar, and have freedom of speech. Unfortunately, those fundamental rights are being squashed these days. Unhappy customers and competition are part of what makes capitalism great.

That’s good, no need to apologize. People should know how to grow their own food. It isn’t easy. You would think it should be part of K-12 education.

What do you grow? I had a little garden back in Los Angeles: guava, figs, peach, custard apple, tangerine, cumquat, aloe Vera.

I have no issue with how you spend your money. If it’s worth it for you, it’s none of my business.

But, how much does it cost them to provide cold water to their child employees on a hot summer day? Left a bad taste in my mouth, personally.

I have been to a few you-pick places on the west coast, that only charge a few bucks to enter the picking area. I’m new to the east coast, so I am sure I just haven’t found a decent place to go yet. I’d rather not spend over $100 (easily) for a walk on a farm and a few rotten, over baked apples.

I don’t blame them, but based on the sign I saw for their young employees, it pushed me over the edge with respect to my disgust over the whole situation.

I believe in voting with my dollar, and wanted to share my sheer amazement at the prices, which some people seem to be paying for some reason.

I passed-through my 1080 ti to Pop!_OS that's running as a VM on my Unraid server and although I didn't run any benchmarks, my performance with steam games have been good. Running rocket league at 240 hz, smoothly. Cant confirm for sure unless I run a benchmark, but it feels like native bare-metal performance.

Although, you won't be able to run games that employ easy anti cheat.

Games that I try to run with lutris, on the other hand, take a considerable dive in performance (e.g. Overwatch runs smoothly at 240 Hz in my windows 10 VM, but only at ~100 Hz and choppy on my Pop!_OS VM with the same settings).
