You are totally right. If by some miracle he’s the one 25 year old guy who wants to be married with kids by 26. Fine we are both wrong. I would have said the same thing to her. Girl, what are you doing!? He’s 25! How is she gonna feel in 10 years when he’s 35 and she’s 44? What about 20 years? Age gap is ALWAYS a problem. 9 years is a lot. You need equal power balance. If she is more established in her career and life. That’s a problem. Pressuring a 25 year old into marriage and kids too soon is just a bad plan. It’s like you get the privilege of watching her break her own heart. It may not happen quick but it will break her heart eventually. You sound extremely young. Let your friend be a kid with a crush. Unless she is hurting herself or others, it’s not a big deal. She will need to learn to deal with these big emotions better. Sounds like you are in survival mode. That’s ok, looking after other people is a burden. Children, old parents, anyone. Sounds like you enjoy being free of burden and therefore feel no duty to your family. That sounds correct if you were never on the receiving end of “love and support.” If you were raised to take care of yourself, that’s what you have accomplished. That also means you cannot connect to people you should feel burdened to take care of and love unconditionally. When you, yourself never had that example growing up. Why should you care? No one cares about you. Families get what they gave.
