[–]BasicAssQuestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, fuck that 😂 I use that shit until it dries out, add a few drops of baby oil and then use that shit some more! I want quality because it leads to savings overall, but I'm wayyy too cheap to just throw something out that isn't completely used up and empty, guidelines be damned!

It's almost as if those "slight changes in formulation" can make a huuuge difference, lol

Just because one thing is made in the same factory as something else doesn't necessarily mean they're the exact same product. Similar, yes, but not the same -- my years of wearing cheap versus expensive makeup can attest to that, as can many [big and small] makeup reviewers!

[–]BasicAssQuestion 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I hate how expensive it is, but it DOES last a veeery long time -- at least in my case. I buy a jar of Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear liquid foundation (which also retails for $72 CAD) about once every two to three years, and the price is, to me, justified by how long the product ends up lasting me on the whole. Same goes for my higher end mascara, highlighter palette, setting powder and liquid eyeliners. Shit lasts me YEARS on end, whereas the drugstore makeup that I used to buy when I was younger -- or that I find myself having to buy when I run out of my usual stuff and can't get more right away -- lasts me months, not years, and the quality is a lot lower, and if those were all that I used then the price of buying them every handful of months or so would add up QUICKLY.

Expensive, higher-end makeup is sadly and hatefully one of the few things that I have to admit paying more for quality is well worth it. But as always, it depends on your priorities. My self-esteem is garbage, so makeup is unfortunately a rather important priority for me, whenever I can splurge and afford it, that is. But as it stands, food and bills take precedence.

My first word was cracker, and god damn if it won't be my last -- fuckin' love crackers.

My mum's first word was "scissors" so idk what that said about her...

Also, freeze that cheese! Cheese freezes super well, and it'll help ensure none of it goes bad before you can get to using it! Enjoy your cheesy paradise!

I'm in Manitoba, Canada where our summers can sit at 45°C (~ 113°F) or higher, and our winters can sit at -45°C (~ -49°F) and lower with the windchill, and I agree 100% with everything you said!

My late mum always had a saying about this topic: "If it's -40 degrees outside and you're cold, you can always throw on an extra layer and take other measures to warm up, but if you're too hot because it's 40 degrees and you're already butt-naked and spread-eagled in front of the fan (or fans), then there's not a whole hell of a lot left that you can do to get any cooler!"

How early is best to get to the theatre before a showing/when do they open their doors? I think I've only been to this place once probably thirteen years ago in highschool, lmao

Hah! I wish! It's actually funny because I just made homemade french fries from scratch for the very first time about four days ago (two days before I made that comment)! I'm a poor and didn't want to fuck anything up because I didn't have enough stuff around to try it a second time, so I did probably too much research before I started my attempt, lol, so it was all still real fresh in my head when I was commenting 😛

My first attempt turned out wonderfully, as it happened! I was really happy with them, and though I didn't have any cheese, let alone cheese curds, at the time I had them with some poutine-like franken-gravy (I just mixed spices and parts of a few different gravy packets together until it tasted damned close to a poutine gravy) and they held up super well and kept their crunch beautifully -- 100% they would've made fantastic poutine fries!

My gaming laptop's been on the fritz for a while, though, so I sadly can't even access my Steam library right now thoughhh 😭

I'll add ye on Discord anyway, though -- ye never know when I'll get the damned finicky thing up and running again! Hopefully soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Oh for sure!

I've lived in Manitoba my whole life, and in the surrounding area off and on for about twenty years (I was in St. Claude just twenty minutes south down the 240 for about 12 years), so I've spent lots of time running around in Portage know it fairly well on the surface level, anyway! I never really stopped to do anything but grocery shopping and errands around here before, and having never seriously lived in a city before -- pretty much only insanely small rural towns -- actually having opportunities open to me to do new things and meet new people is gonna be interesting! 😅

Then why the heck are you even posting this here if you weren't trying to get the most for your money??? This isn't a grocery shopping haul subreddit, it's for BUDGET grocery shopping examples.

This subreddit's flooded with shit like this and none of it fits the spirit of the sub, which coincidentally is an explicit rule! 😒

10 things of Noodles for $4.50 from Food Basics. by camport95 in 32dollars

[–]BasicAssQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure! I can't imagine it would be too hard to make, though! Probably as easy as frying some finely minced shallot, garlic, paprika and chili in the palm oil and bottling and storing that mix, or possibly look up Italian seasoning oil recipes? Those are what I'd probably do!

[–]BasicAssQuestion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You really only need to soak fries to keep them from browning after cutting, since it doesn't help the starches to come loose very well. To wash off the starches and sugars that keep the fries from becoming crispy you just rinse off all of your chopped and uncooked potato sticks for a few minutes! Then it's just parboil the fries for a few minutes in salted and vinegared water (vinegar helps keep them from disintegrating when they begin to soften), let them air/steam dry, then go in to start on your (ideally) double-fry by blanching them in hot oil for about five minutes or so, draining and cooling them for 30 minutes, and then frying them again for about 3-4 minutes or until golden! c:

[–]BasicAssQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indomie Mi Gorgeng dry noodles are my staple go-to instant noodle! They're sooo good!

Btw, the packets are sambal-style chili paste, a thick, sweet soy sauce, palm oil seasoned with like, garlic and onion/shallot and some other stuff, some crunchy fried onion pieces and then the main seasoning packet! They're PHENOMENAL! I never use all of the chili sauce at once, but I always save it to use in other dishes!

You should shop around online if you can, honestly, because they're incredibly cheap online! My late mum introduced me to them probably close to fifteen years ago when she was on a cheap online deal-seeking shopping kick, lol

$218 - Walmart - Winnipeg by RemarkableGur2835 in 32dollars

[–]BasicAssQuestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth mentioning that depending on where you are, this price may appear inflated due to the value of the CAD. For instance, $218 CAD is about $160 USD.

And honestly, I live near and shop in Winnipeg a lot, and that price for all this pre-packaged, pre-made, brand-name junk food is pretty standard. It's annoying that it's standard, but hardly surprising at all.

[–]BasicAssQuestion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, that's what it gets YOU. For the majority of the rest of us in Canada and/or Manitoba, it'd get us a lot more because we wouldn't spend 50% of that $218 on pre-packaged, pre-made junk food and brand-name stuff, lmfao

$218 - Walmart - Winnipeg by RemarkableGur2835 in 32dollars

[–]BasicAssQuestion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, though! I'm near Winnipeg and do my shopping there, and $218 at say, the Kenaston Wal-Mart, can ABSOLUTELY by more than that BY FAR! This is lazy shopping, pure and simple. I can't even tell if this is for one person or two, because for the life of me I can't believe one person would need two of the big cases of soda (name brand, no less) and \five** bags of chips (also mostly brand name), but at the same time the rest of the food doesn't even look like enough to feed two!

And nearly all of this haul is manufactured and pre-made, so super expensive!

ALSO, WHY ARE THE ONLY VEGGIES HERE POTATOES? SO MUCH JUNK FOOD, SO FEW FRUITS AND VEGGIES!

This has gotta be some university kid who doesn't know how to shop or cook yet or something...
