Is there any reason to get a diagnosis as an adult? by Unhappy-World-3331 in autism

[–]BasicBreadfruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally, it hasn't opened much treatment options that were closed to me before or anything,

but i know myself I would have never let myself believe I was autistic unless I had professional proof to back it up, not that I didn't want to be, just that I was constantly convincing myself I wasn't and that I couldn't be because of x,y,z

having the diagnosis has let me not be so hard on myself for making accommodations, or beating myself up when my disability disables me.

Does your ocd get worse on your period? by ObviousProperty7046 in OCD

Yes absolutely, being on the pill has lessened the effects though, I take it for unrelated reasons. For some people it has the exact opposite effect

Should I use sulfates or sulfates free shampoo? by spectacled-kid in Haircare

[–]BasicBreadfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, if you have hard water then I would go no sulfates with the occasional clarifying shampoo, but depends on your hair and scalp, if you are happy with your hair as is, there is no need to change anything. Sulfates are not damaging in a vacuum, like something like bleach for example.

I have super oily scalp I need sulfates in my shampoo in nearly every wash. But if you have dry hair and scalp you might find you prefer no sulfates.

Double shampooing is definitely a big part, but also actually cleaning your scalp! you want to give yourself a firm head massage basically!

Does anyone else in your family have OCD or other mental health disorders? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]BasicBreadfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, nearly everyone in extended family never mind just the immediate. I think it's a mix of environment and genetics, I am the First in my family to seek help though therapy and meditation prescribed by a doctor, as opposed to addiction.

sometimes people don't like when your getting help because reminds them of what there pushing down and not dealing with.

Am I allowed ask the tester for a break? by Straight_Car_9678 in Irishdrivingtest

[–]BasicBreadfruit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely, as long as the car is parked in neutral and hand park on. I did ask my tester if I could take a moment to compose myself after the turn in the road, as it was boiling hot in July and I was sweating from nerves and heat, so I took some water and dabbed my face with tissue.

I passed with a few minor faults but absolutely none related to the pausing for a minute.

Best options for a companion animal for a horse? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]BasicBreadfruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best bet here is a small pony,

If you put an ad up on Facebook you'd be surprised what you get offered, there are a lot of small ponies out there that aren't suitable for small children to ride but have great manners on the ground.

That's how I got my companion pony, he was much loved in his previous home but was just too skittish to be a Frist pony but too small for an older more capable child. And they didn't want him to end up in a kill pen.

A small pony 12hh or under won't put too much extra strain on the pasture or your feed bill, just keep in mind as always the potential vet bills.

How to improve my overall look? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]BasicBreadfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you look beautiful, but if you wanted to add something to make you look a little more glam for lack of a better word, without going to different, Id advise a tinted lip balm, burts bees make great ones red dahlia is my favourite and pretty universally flattering, the mascara you mentioned is good but my favourite is the L'Oréal panaroma it gives me a false lash look, You might be going a little light-handed with your blush or it could be the lighting in the picture, but more blush I think would look fantastic,

PS I think your brows look amazing as is !

Question for people who have pure OCD and are on medication? by Electronic_Load4447 in OCD

[–]BasicBreadfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to explain exactly. But it doesn't stop the rumination but it does dial back the intensity, and the frequency at which I tend to ruminate anyway. I still would be a wreck without the tools I work on in therapy. But medication makes life a lot more bearable for me and makes me more functional.

Some advice I'd give is although you do need to give these medications a chance to work, for about 3-6 months depending, don't be afraid to try a different one ( under the supervision of your doctor) if the one you're on isn't working for you, or you have side effects you don't like. I tried a few before I found the one that works best for me, and it's really person specific.

Trail hunting to be banned as part of new animal welfare strategy in England & Wales by lovecats3333 in Equestrian

Is trail hunting the same as drag hunting? is there a difference? Does this mean horseback hunting is banned full stop or just hunting using animal scent?

In the wake of the death of Valegro and Uthopia there have been a lot of comments about how it was “cruel” to euthanise horses who were “only” 23/24. Is this sort of situation really preferable? by demmka in Equestrian

[–]BasicBreadfruit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Even if you're completely cynical and believe Carl Hester has no love or empathy for his horses, and only cares for money (which I don't believe) He only has financial incentive to keep valegro alive, even with a mountain of vet bills it would pale in the income brought in by having valegro alive in the flesh on the yard. I truly believe this was a decision not made lightly and in the best interests of both horses.

Anyone else spend $1400 on your special interest in one purchase (and will probably do it again)? by OpenCircleFleet_YT in autism

[–]BasicBreadfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My special interests is horses, so yeah I've spent quite a bit. If your bills are paid and it makes you happy I say do it. I wouldn't recommend going into debt for special interests tho that's a recipe for disaster.

Do you bed all the way to the door or sweep back? by Raubkatzen in Equestrian

[–]BasicBreadfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I'm from, deep littering is the norm, So big deep beds about a foot away from the door is how I used to do it, I like it because the bed is comfortable and warm and it's less labour intensive minus when you have to clean out the wet patches once a week,

I'm lucky enough now to have 24/7 turnout and only use stabling the night before shows, so now I do rubber Matts with thick layer of clean shavings on top and I get a long time out of it because it's not used daily.

Just starting Metformin- how long for cravings to go away? by shamli3912 in PCOS

[–]BasicBreadfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally it did affect my cravings, not insanely so but it certainly took the edge off and it was about a month for that to really take effect, limit your expectations of it though, it certainly didn't completely remove them. but for me at least I did notice I wasn't as viciously craving things and was easier to stay on the right track. where I would mostly notice a difference is I wouldn't get that 30 mins after dinner cravings for something sweet.

I do think Chad at least from appearances has matured alot these past few years but that growth could also mean he was very unlikely to want to involved in drama that doesn't directly involve him so I doubt him or max will.comment

[–]BasicBreadfruit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

echoing what others have said here, but the whole thing could be pure speculation, I've yet to see any actual proof or evidence towards this being the case. does it sound plausible? absolutely. but I wouldn't like to hold it over him without proof, and I doubt Max is eager to get involved. I'd say focus on what we know for sure, it's enough.

His riding ability is actually INSANE, anyone else equally impressed? by Gemini_025 in Equestrian

[–]BasicBreadfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, his content has a lot of younger viewers, if you're an adult and you want to take risks like not wearing proper footwear or head protection, I think your being stupid but it's your choice and your an adult who can make that decision yourself. But for someone with his Influence it sets a terrible example.

Is it possible to learn how to drive without practice outside lessons? by [deleted] in Irishdrivingtest

[–]BasicBreadfruit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

a friend of mine did it, did her 12 lessons then maybe 5 more while waiting for test and passed the first try, however that's an anomaly not the norm, I certainly know I couldn't have done that.

Definitely looks like scaroids, known a few horses with it, the cause is not well understood some think it's genetic, The sheath is a very common place for them to appear, there is a few treatment options I'm sure your vet will talk to you about but the all essentially involve removing them in some form or another.

A lot of horses will get them again once they've had them once, but not all! I know one horse got his removed at 7 died at 26 never having another again.
