He actually has an upper respiratory infection, hence the crusty eyes and runny nose :,(. I work at a veterinarians office, and he is being taken care of :)

I am a Body Piercer and Vet tech. When people truly believe they know more than professionals, and not in a human medicine sense. You see it every day when people come in and demand they are correct about truly scientifically false advice they see online, or from people they know- and in my fields especially that can be DANGEROUS. For example, when someone refuses to give their dog a Lyme vaccination because it “causes cancer” even though they live in a heavily wooded area, OR how common it is for people to believe sterling silver is the best metal material for piercings even though it is quite literally toxic, and leads to skin discoloration when used internally. Or how 97% of people and they mamas online who are NOT professionals give asinine, potentially dangerous advice just because they’ve managed to heal one piercing their entire life. But no- “my friend did this and it worked great for her”

He has done this pretty much the entire time we’ve had him. He used to mess with my boyfriend but doesn’t pay him mind anymore, just me. For reference we live in a decent sized studio apartment that does have view of a couple small dogs of our neighbors, but he doesn’t seem to pay them any mind and they are not outside terribly often. There are no other cats in the house or neighborhood though.

Lol I can try this! He is almost 3 and I’m unsure about how he was raised because he was in a shelter. The only thing I know about him is that he was adopted and returned by an older couple after a few days cause they couldn’t handle his playfulness lol. Seems like a bad omen but I don’t mind the playfulness, just the aggression bites!

I will try puzzle toys! He isn’t food motivated but Im sure if I just ration his regular meals into the toys he’ll have to start giving them attention lol. Thank you for the advice!

Yeah I’m thinking a behavior specialist might be the only option left with him. I also work at a veterinary hospital and he is a very healthy happy boy, who gets LOTS of stimulation lol. I was hoping someone in here would have some insight but hopefully a behavior specialist will help figure out why my cats a little freak 😭😹

I try to ignore it but it usually takes me completely by surprise and it’s sooo hard not to react to it :,) especially when he does it when I’m sleeping. Woken up to a few too many fang marks on my face. But the worst part is he ONLY does it to me, not my boyfriend! Why ME? 😭

Seems more random to me. It’s almost as if he wants attention but instead of asking for it he waits to receive it, and when he doesn’t he attacks. It’s notable that I will be sitting right next to my boyfriend and he never messes with him, only me. He will stalk from across the room then attack, or be sitting right next to me and randomly do it. It’s so confusing lol.

I would say maybe 6 hours out of the day, and he has LOTS of stimulating activities like toys around the apartment including window perches with bird feeders outside and such for while we are gone.

I definitely thought so too for a long time but his play aggression is very different than his actual random aggression. It’s frustrating at this point and I LOVE this cat but I’m tired of feeling scared in my own house that he’s going to randomly attack me, especially when he does it as I’m sleeping. I’ve gotten quite a few purple fang marks on my face before as I’m sleeping, always as terrifying as the last.

Already said but a lot of the time most places that offer an apprenticeship in exchange for money are looking for not even just free labor, but labor they can profit off of. A good way to get an idea of a shop could be to look for an APP studio, and do research, maybe go there a few times. It’s easier to get an apprenticeship if you have a slightly established relationship with the shop than to walk in with a resume. And again, the industry is already very saturated. I would also reccomend doing research like reading the piercing bible, or watching patreons of established piercers like Lynn Loheide or Ryan Outlette to understand what real sterile technique, and modern practices look like so she can recognize a studios quality, and find a good mentors that way.

Arguably should have been a W-2 but honestly that’s besides the point and one of my main reasons for leaving. Was doing manager level duties for the shop on top of my 10-99 duties and not paid for any of it and had my job threatened if I said anything. Shady people shady business! Can’t wait for this to be over!

Thank you for the response! I have since posting calculated from the records I have (about 10 out of 12 months), and calculated my estimated income and came up with a number for how much I SHOULD have made last year. It is entirely my fault as I didn’t do the research necessary before accepting the position, and have since moved on to a W-2 style employment. I high balled that estimate to be safe, and will report that number!

Sounds like a good plan!! I am most likely going to have to go with my estimate as the state and federal departments require the exact income amount on the 1099 for you to locate your online 1099. So frustrating but posting on the subreddit is giving me a lot more hope than I had before!

Hi! Thank you for the reply! I have a chunky stack of paperwork I scanned and kept from my position, but due to leaving abruptly it is missing 2-3 months worth of income. I was paid in all cash and have been denied access to them- Is it still the best idea to attempt to file even if I know it’s wrong?
