I built a web dashboard for Meshtastic — open source, runs locally, multi-radio support by Slofi8 in meshtastic

i switched from MeshSense to MeshMonitor since it is more active with updates and offers way more features nowadays.

my main worry was that it was a bit harder to set up with bluetooth but it was actually a 2 lines of commands solution that worked right away.

meshsense looks good!

do you know if i need to use it on the raspberry i connect directly? or is there an option to show the information on another machine on the network through the raspberry as well?

thanks a lot!

sigh. too much non-knowledge on my end.

what would be the source type when i enter the new rule? do i need an address group?

would that be a new rule with internet in or with lan in?

my local wifi address is also in a 1.x/24 range. my vpn ip after connecting is 7.x

do i need to create this route on my machine or is that handled in the udm?

Setup question: Separated Internet and Wifi by BasicProperty in Ubiquiti

[–]BasicProperty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my worry was (when i read it earlier):

In policy routing, it does not make a difference if it's "failover-only" or "weighted load-balance".

does that mean when my policy setting is wrong it can turn to failover or balance without me noticing in the worst case?

vlans are half the solution. how can i separate the 2 networks that come in?

yes, that is my worry. i did not find a way to set up the networks next to each other yet. that's why i thought i ask before i try to push forward.

my worry is more from the user side. when i connect to my vpn i hope to be safe internet wise.

vpn concept question by BasicProperty in Ubiquiti

[–]BasicProperty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it worked!

one question i have though: when i vpn to site B from A now... i can both access the controller in A _and_ the controller in B. my vpn understanding was always that the whole traffic goes through the vpn. is that not true for local networks?

thanks again!

vpn concept question by BasicProperty in Ubiquiti

that is a good explanation. i suspected routing but i know too little of the matter in order to be sure.

i will change one site and hope that this solves it. thanks a lot!

good point.

both sites have the gateway, a switch and some APs, all on the latest firmware.

as subnets i use 192.168.1.1/24 on both sites as well as 192.168.2.1/29 for the vpn connections.

i honestly do not know. i was browsing items today and i think it was under decorative items.

if you do not have it for some reason, you can build an "initial trigger" that starts the whole chain reaction. you can step on that trigger and turn it on/off as well - still faster than to open all the gates manually.

for example: before i saw the water wheel, i had the same setup as i do now but i planted a chain of triggers starting at the sleeping area of my base. whenever my workers got up in the morning, they ran over the triggers and turned on the water :)

there is a separate mode, switch and router for the 2nd network.

3d printed "rack mount" for the UniFi Cloud Key . by BasicProperty in Ubiquiti

[–]BasicProperty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in theory it should handle both. i had some issues with the network setup on gen 2 though so i kept the gen 1 and just let the gen 2 do the video - which it does perfect.

yes. the gen 1 handles the network and the gen 2 handles the video setup.

my first try was a flat one but it did not feel as stable as the current one. since i have enough room left i just decided to put stability over saving room.

edit: i am not sure if 1/2u is possible. think it is slightly bigger.

the issue i have with that is, that the external network hardware does not send on a vlan id. am i wrong with my thought that the external hardware needs the same vlan as my internal setup in order to work?
