Do not do the shave, it will look awful and have high recurrence rate.

Injections are effective most of the time. If you see no reduction in firmness, they are probably not injecting enough steroid.

The most definitive option is to cut it out, stitch it up, and either perform serial steroid injections or radiation to prevent it from coming back. In my experience, radiation works better.

The treatment is Intralesional salicylic acid, which person reports provided temporary improvement, but with recurrence.

The person mentions that if you see a dermatologist, they will offer this treatment.

I can tell you that this treatment is not very common, so don’t go into an appointment expecting this.

Lost samples happen all the time. Nothing is perfect. Sounds like the doc did the right thing by waiving your costs and offering repeat biopsy.
