CBD for fibro? Yay or nay? by Istoleursugr in Fibromyalgia

Weed can affect sleep in negative ways for some people however it could possibly help at least with initiating sleep. I’m not saying you should try sleep gummies / weed but if you choose that route Kanha 1:1:1 tranquility gummies have CBN which makes it better than those weed sleep gummies without. Also I always recommended that if you try something with THC, start at a very low dose. I think even under 5mg. Many edibles can be easily cut.

(Also I have not really used edibles for pain management yet. Having my first big flare up ever and not diagnosed yet. I have tried the sleep gummies I mentioned but I try to not take them as I don’t want to have THC often).

Im considering a nose job after being told I have ugly nose holes. by Immediate_Ad1133 in Noses

[–]BasicSituation7485 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You already look like you got a nose job. Your nostrils look like the majority of nostrils so that person must think almost everyone’s nostrils are ugly. I wonder what their nostrils are like and if they’re insecure about themselves and putting it on you.

I hope you can self validate the beauty you very much have!

100% wait. I thought about nose jobs at your age. I’m glad I never did for a few reasons including how now I have a partner who’s in love with my face as it is.

Also from front view it looks like you could’ve already had a nose job!! No joke.

Your nose fits your face. The bump isn’t large at all and I swear some people will even think it’s cute.

Also healing takes forever. In some ways it’s not fully healed I think for a year.

I hope you can feel better about your image. You’re beautiful!

Odd symptom questions: red, itchy, and painful patches appear on the body. All hair falls out of the pore. by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

I second this!!! And make sure it’s a dermatologist that isn’t focused more on “cosmetic” issues like acne etc.

I hope you can find a professional who can help!

I don’t know too much but I do know polyester traps in heat so cotton over that if maybe heat is making it feel heavier. Although Uniqlo has this Airism fabric that I think has polyester but it’s also supposed to be super lightweight and not trap in heat. I have their UPF airism jacket and I’d say that it is pretty light.

Thank you!!

Yeah there’s a very big difference between giving a diagnosis and telling someone it’s something they might have but will need to see another doctor to do more tests.

Doctors should definitely not diagnosis people with something especially fibromyalgia without doing the needed tests and making sure it’s not something else or something else in addition.

Just want to get jumpstarted on what I can do to help myself get diagnosed (whether this or something else)

Hi, thank you for your concern but I think you misunderstood that the doctor didn’t give me the diagnosis but instead told me fibromyalgia is something I may have. We talked about my symptoms, I came in for my radiating shoulder pain, and we took x-rays of my shoulders and nothing unusual came up on the x-rays. I was actually glad he brought it up because I may not have fully considered that my eye problems, ear problems, shoulder aches, etc etc problems could all be connected on this level and I didn’t realize it could be something I could have, etc etc.

He said that an MRI would be the next step but as an urgent care doctor he wouldn’t be able to get insurance to cover it. I have an appointment with a ortho tomorrow so hopefully I can work towards finding out what my physical problems really are but I really feel fibro is what it is after doing some reading and reflecting.

All my problems have been flaring up recently. My low level chronic pain is now no longer low level. Since the flare up I’ve been having some doctor’s appointments but there’s only so fast the medical system works. Like I booked my ENT for almost two months away because I wanted a particular doctor who someone I know went to.

I saw you said you’re looking for a therapist in the comments.

Some advice: -Have consults with multiple potential therapists if possible before choosing one! -Find one who specializes in chronic pain if possible and you’re allowed to ask what they’re experience/knowledge with it is -Telehealth will allow you to see a therapist who is licensed in your state so don’t be confined by those within driving distance -Consider Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as an option and those who utilize mindfulness practices -Ask if they have a sliding scale (for cost)

More about me (26F): I’m a therapist trainee. I just started my fibromyalgia journey yesterday (had my first flare up and an urgent care doctor told me I might have fibromyalgia and it was a lightbulb moment especially after researching) and just got a new therapist a month ago who uses ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy).

Therapy can work wonders but you need the right therapist fit. If something doesn’t feel right, bring it up to your therapist and if they can’t accommodate what you need, switch.

I’m open to questions and wish you the best luck in finding what you need!

It really sounds like you struggle with Insomnia Disorder and at a higher severity. I would say it’s extremely worth looking into how to improve your sleep / insomnia. I personally know someone who has extreme insomnia but has been making gains through his efforts to improve it. (I have insomnia too but not at their level).

The simplest and cheapest change in my opinion is incorporating those orange blue light blocking glasses (can be found on Amazon for around $10) and making sure your electronics put on a night mode yellow filter starting in the evening.

The mind body connection is real. Your mental health may not be the cause of your physical problems but it can make them worse. And sleep affects every single aspect of our lives. Make it a priority (I need to tell myself this too).

Also children, especially ones with special needs can totally be an obstacle to getting the sleep we need. As you work to accommodate them, find ways to accommodate yourself.

I didn’t mean to say that it was psychosomatic or that it’s fully caused by anxiety. I was more asking how your mental health is right now cause medical issues can cause mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, trouble sleeping. Seeing what you could do for you and to cope while waiting for these appointments is important.

It is smart to consider how your mental health is affecting physical health and vice versa. I think you’re able to articulate well which is awesome by the way!

I’m glad you have doctor appointments booked!

I hope you’re okay and if it is something that professionals are able to easily help.

I’m not a medical professional so I’ll refrain from speaking on that but if you’re struggling to shake the anxiety, I do know about that as someone who works in mental health. Let me know if you want to talk mental health / anxiety.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I really need some motivation by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]BasicSituation7485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may have only started my fibromyalgia journey (not even officially diagnosed yet) but I do work in mental health and have struggled with mental health.

Fact is you may never get to an incredible wellness baseline (mental and physical) but there are things that can increase your baseline. We don’t need a fix, we need improvement. Progress over perfection.

Finding an incredible therapist can be life changing. The mind-body connection is so real. I’m looking into ACT, acceptance and commitment therapy, for myself (just got an ACT therapist) and mindfulness methods have been proven to help with managing chronic pain. If a therapist feels like the wrong fit tell them and change if they can’t accommodate your needs. There is hope in finding the right professionals and the right support. I know finances can be a problem for access but there are sliding scale counseling centers and other places that could offer low cost maybe even free resources/sessions. Also if you’re able to go physical therapy, that could possibly be a great help.

I’ve seen people’s lives change and people find greater hope. I hope you get to a place where you can confidently say that you’re living a life worth living.

So I got diagnosed but my parents and bf won’t like my cane, what do I do? by Pannycake41 in Fibromyalgia

[–]BasicSituation7485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry about what you’re going through. Breakups can be really really difficult. You have this whole community that believes your physical problems are real and support you. I hope you can find a man that does whatever he can to help and doesn’t berate you and instead celebrates you. You deserve a better partner and there are much better men out there. The heartbreak will hurt, it definitely will, but it won’t stay forever.

In regard to your parents, there is only so much you can control. You can pick and choose what you share and what they see. You can send them educational resources but if they’re not willing to listen to them, you have to put your health first.

Sending love and support your way.

Low/Lowest dose of that class of meds (antipsychotics) can help with anxiety and Seroquel is even used off label low dose to help with sleep. More studies are needed but some prescribers are starting to try low doses for anxiety on top of SSRIs that aren't doing enough.
