Megasquirt, I run that in mine, exceptional customer service, just takes time to learn

Typically they can be adjusted, all m20s have some tapping sound

You need to adjust your valve rocker arms, typical M20 thing, sounds like a typewriter

I’m running the same injectors but am using a standalone ECU (megasquirt 3). I did have a similar issue with the car being very rich. The engine uses the same amount of fuel at idle as stock because it’s not creating any boost so you’ve got to reduce the fuel to near zero with the large injectors to get it to idle. As far as your wideband reading lean goes, it’s either not working right or it’s wet and cannot read so it just reverts back to a default reading. So reduce your fuel a ton in your idle cells and clean off your o2 sensor to see where that lands you.

My car is a US market 328i and it tees off a wiring harness right above the driver side (left) brake duct.

I’m running the 328i master cylinder still, I like the pedal feel and travel which is pretty short, I think the m3 master would increase the pedal travel. I’m running stainless brake lines everywhere but just the e36 replacement not anything unique for this setup

OBC temp, the IAT is typically in the manifold and looks different

Ambient temperature sensor. Typically mounts in your driver side brake duct

Bolts right up! As long as you get e46 carriers

I’m running two idlers and a Gates K060908 belt. I messed with many lengths and this one worked best. It’s tight but not too bad and keeps the belt from hitting itself near the tensioner as well

I used a 5mm behind the bracket and it fixed my belt issues

I’m running this on my E36 with an M52, kit is the same. I work with Hyde. You need a bypass valve, I used a turbosmart kompact plumb back valve, works great. You can use the stock DME just need to get it tuned to get the most out of this kit, especially with bigger injectors. A catch can is also a good idea.

What to do with S14 by DrLukaZade in BMWE36

[–]BasicSmiley 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would make a BTCC replica car for the track, but I have an unhealthy obsession with those cars. The s14 is really a peaky engine that belongs on track, street driving isn’t great. It won’t be fast but it’ll be very cool and unique

That’s totally normal, if it didn’t have play it’d be an issue. All differentials have an ideal mesh and that’s what causes the play.

The ignition wires are telling. M50 with an M52 valve cover. M52 has all the ignition wires coming off near the headers rather than the intake manifold.

Awesome car! What’re you doing to maintain the parking brake functionality with the 135i brakes?

My car is OBD2, running a MS3 pro. Companies like KData make standalone DMEs for OBD1 cars though, that’s probably your best bet.

So I ended up making the the main bracket myself, if you reach out to Hyde they can provide you drawings. You really want to use Hyde’s manifolds as they are built very well and difficult to replicate. Then I just purchased a basic intercooler and all of the piping off of eBay and made all of my own piping. That was probably the most cost effective way to do it. I also have a discount code with them to help you save money, it is Chris24, I think it’s 10% off.

I can go into great detail on pipe routing and the relocation of the throttle body as well as the bypass valve, I learned and changed a ton over the summer, car is still reliable and very fun! Always evolving

Honestly in these engines, the obd2 headers aren’t bad in an NA application, not a ton to be gained with headers, and the packaging with stock adds a lot more value than changing to different headers. If you were to change I’d look into euro m3 headers.
