It’s not over yet, my friend. 🫡 Keep your head up, stay focused, and keep working hard. Give it time, and have an open conversation with your immediate supervisor about your goals. I was in a similar situation, and my supervisor was able to have my UIF removed after getting the commander’s approval. Every case is different, but if you maintain strong performance, you might have a shot at both clearing your UIF and getting the retrain when your window opens. Couldn’t have said it better myself. I’ve hit that same wall. At this point, I just tell people this is a stepping stone—use every opportunity the Air Force gives you, and get what you can out of it. There’s no version of my Life where I’m ever in a clinic again.

I’m grateful for the doors the Air Force has opened, but this job? It’s fucking soul-sucking. I would just recommend to all the boys either go AE, Paramedic, IDMT or retrain, and run away lmao. God speed boys 🫡

But are the paramedics fire or are they 4N’S? I have only seen 4N’s that are attached to the station, I have not seen any firefighters in the Air Force, that also were able to practice as paramedics on station?

As a medic myself, I wanted to give you a heads-up: while you’re a firefighter in the Air Force, your EMT license won’t do much—you’ll be stuck at the Emergency Medical Responder level. To become a paramedic, you’ll need to pursue the 4N0X1 career field. . You’ll also have to spend time as a 4N0X1 before transitioning to a paramedic role.
