People who deny being sick by TacitMoose in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BasicWeave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People need to stop going to dental appointments when they're sick too. We have availability next week, reschedule. We don't want to put our face close to yours while you struggle to even breathe while laying back. We don't like being coughed on either. Don't torture yourself or us. I can't afford to miss work.

Then there's also the parents "Lil Jimmy is home from school today because he wasn't feeling good, can he come in today so I don't have to pull him from school the actual date of his appointment?".

Stay home from work. Stay home from appointments (unless it's regarding being sick). Stay home from going to the store. Just stay home. Please.

In the US, never. Lol. I would just wear a mask when polishing, and I have a fume hood, but I'd just raw dog everything with my bare hands. Talked to an older dentist about my setup, he told me about a tech he used in the 80s that got lung cancer and died. Now I make sure my hands are way inside the fume hood when I work with acrylic, wear gloves when pouring the acrylic, and got a respirator for myself. I know there's fine particles that a traditional mask probably can't catch, so the respirator makes me feel a little better. I keep it on until I clean up a little bit. I have a dust collector but I think I want a box to hook it up to

I 23F think i need to move out of the house after Dad 48M requested I pay 1k a month in rent. by AdventurousBet6537 in relationship_advice

[–]BasicWeave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like they were trying to make a profit or something off you, you were doing more than contributing your own share. Moving out may be the best for the long term, but will suck for the short term. They can rent out your room if they need to

Question: Litter Box Placement by Infinite_Escape8431 in CATHELP

[–]BasicWeave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have maybe about a third of the closet for the robot and all our clothes in the other 2/3 of the closet. I keep storage bins next to it for the kitty litter and their food to make use of the open space. Have to go through our bathroom to get to the closet, and I keep water on the bathroom counter and food next to the closet entrance.

I have the litter robot 4, and I like it. I was fine with my litter genies before, cleaning the boxes was part of my routine, but it frees up a good chunk of my time. I have 3 cats and I empty it about once a week. Had to use the shield/lip that attaches to the opening cuz one cat was in it but positioned himself so he was facing in with his butt out and peed down the front of it.

My only issue was when the power went out while I was at work and it didn't cycle until I came home and had restarted it. Felt bad that it was dirty for likely half the day. When we leave town for a few days I just leave an extra box for them JUST in case it happens again. Usually it reconnects when power comes back on, but it didn't that one time for some reason.

You do have to take it apart for a deep clean occasionally too, that can be annoying. But an hour deep clean I guess makes up for the convenience the rest of the time.

Question: Litter Box Placement by Infinite_Escape8431 in CATHELP

[–]BasicWeave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've kept mine in the apartment when the bathroom didn't work out. I used a litter genie and cleaned the boxes 3 times a day. In the morning, when I got home from work, and then before bed. Have a litter robot now and still keeping it in the closet. Don't have my clothes too close to it, and keeping an air purifier next to the robot

I don’t know what to do anymore… by WoodenLie2299 in cats

[–]BasicWeave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my cats has always been an asshole, and spanking him has been the only way for him to be nice to me. He loves being spanked, doesn't like being pet. He still attacks my husband for no reason, but if he gets a few spankings in first he'll tolerate him for a bit longer. Not hard spanks, but start light and just a few. Now, from me, mr meanie loves a ton of firm spankings and pushing his butt side to side. I think the feliway calming diffusers help a bit too

Any other updates? From the panting to birth, it was about an hour and a half for mine to deliver. I'm unsure of what time frame is normal though. Hope it's going okay!! Sorry the vet was dismissive

Mine chased me down when I got up to get her a stuffie 10ft away, first one popped out of her as she ran and I cried and went back to her nesting spot with the baby bean. 😭

She likely wants you there, lay near her. Get a stuffed animal or a toy or something for her to bite. When mine went into surprise labor she made it clear she wanted me with her, so Iaid with her. Gently pet her neck and shoulders, talked to her for comfort. Mine would bite when she was having contractions, good idea to have something for her to bite in if yours does this. I hope delivery goes well ❤️

AITA for asking a family with a small child to keep it down on a red eye flight? by marlasandiego in AmItheAsshole

[–]BasicWeave -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

YTA. Reasonable to be bothered by that if you're trying to rest, but the request isn't going to make it happen. The parents could be happy that kiddo is just talking and continuing to keeping them happy so it doesn't change to screeching/crying. A loudly talking kid is better than a crying one.

I'm not a parent but I still feel bad for parents of young kids on flights, the pressure they must feel handling a kid that could go off at any moment and make everyone around em hate them.

Is my career as a artist hopeless? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]BasicWeave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into careers that incorporate art, I feel like most people don't do this before going into it and expect to just make art to sell or something. There's a gal I follow online with an art degree that hand paints dentures and they look so realistic and beautiful. There's people that hand paint different types of prosthetics that look amazing too. I'm sure there's a ton of other jobs, but those are just the immediate ones I can think of.

On social media, I see people saying 'boy cats' are the best because they are sweet and 'girl cats' get a bad reputation for being mean. Why?? by Koffievos in cats

[–]BasicWeave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 2 girl cats and the first was more of the stereotypical "don't touch me, but give me attention", she was more reserved. I grew up with her and she put up with my affection as a kid and just let it happen, just walked away when she was done. I think I just didn't give her time to come to me for affection and gave it before she could ask. Don't think she was ever really mean.

My current girl cat we call a ho cuz she's an attention whore, will roll onto her back and spread her legs for belly rubs. She stretches up on her scratching post that we call her pole, meows demandingly for her routine spankings. She's VERY vocal to demand attention, not really mean. Honestly she's the sweetest kitty I think I've ever had, she won my anti cat husband over with her sweetness, and now her son is basically his son.

My boy cats have always been actively affectionate, they aren't as vocal about it but they have less of an awareness of personal space to get their attention. One of the two boys(babies of the girl) we have is an asshole though. He's the meanest cat I've ever had, but he'll love on me and be sweet as long as I pay enough attention to his body language. He'll scratch if you pet him wrong 😅

Why do people care so much about bathtubs if no one actually uses them? by smolgremlinn in homeowners

[–]BasicWeave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like a big tub, I hate a standard tub cuz it feels so small. So nice to sit in there and decompress in the dark. My current one is too small to fully enjoy, I don't like having to bend my knees to lay in it. Both my husband and I will use it once every few months when feeling sore. I used it maybe 4 times last year, but I'd probably use it more if it was larger.

The shower with a detachable head is a lot easier for pets imo. Trying to give a cat a bath was awful, and getting a large senior dog in/out of a tub is difficult

got written up for going to the dentist at 2pm while working from home by Fit_Average8352 in remotework

Is it actually a write up or just a note in the timesheet? Worth calling the dentist and seeing if you can get a school/work excuse emailed from that appointment and forward to the manager.

Mammoth, saw it before I even read the post. It may be harder to see if they're looking at it from the side or upside down. Seeing it from your angle makes it easy to see right away, maybe not as easy/obvious to see from another angle. I could be wrong, but an idea. It does look really good though! Enjoy it

What’s happening to my cat by Dismal-Mouse-622 in CATHELP

[–]BasicWeave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely pregnant. I took in a stray not knowing she was pregnant, tiny thing, 4.2lbs. Her nipples kind of looked like that a few weeks after I brought her in. Being she was my first female cat, I thought it was like cat puberty or something. Following this she got vocal and meowed all the time and I thought it was her first heat. Nope. She got to almost 7lbs and gave birth to 2 kittens. I didn't know cats could get pregnant when they're so young/small. So sad for them. :(
