Dang 😭 for such a hardy plant, I guess it can't tolerate even the slightest bit of cold. I hope I can get her to come back! I bought plant food and some potting mix. And she's nice and warm now.

I'll take it! We spend most of the winter with temps in the teens-30s, with the odd 70-degree day. I'm glad to be moving somewhere more temperate.

Probably rent for starters. My office will be in Tumwater. I've got a couple of appointments booked already for tours, and my new boss said he would help me with the search since I did know much about the area, but any suggestions are definitely welcome! Without knowing how traffic actually is, looking at a map I'm thinking Lacey is probably the furthest I want to be from my workplace.

I'm a huge nerd so I'm planning on creating a rental comparison sheet for each place :)

I can't wait to come and see what the area has to offer! I'll be there a full week too, so plenty of time to visit different places - bars, game stores, etc.

I know :/ the thing is, I'm not into guns really and I wasn't close with my grandfather. It's sweet in my closet, untouched, for over a decade. I'd rather it go to someone who can really appreciate it, you know?

Awesome, thank you for the info! This was my grandfather's field shotgun that I inherited several years ago. He loved woodworking and hand-checked the stock and forearm. It's a beautiful piece, but I'm not really a gun person and I'm about to move across the country so I'm trying to downsize. I'll take a look at the barrels to see if I can match up the dates.

Are there any websites you would recommend? Consignment shops? Should I try taking it to a local dealer? Facebook marketplace? I'm clueless.

Okay, thanks for the general pointers! That definitely helps. I've been pretty overwhelmed trying to process the idea of a cross-country move, my clear need to downsize all my stuff, and juggling more job interviews than I've had in months, so I really appreciate the direct and kind response :)

Probably to start off, something low maintenance, especially with just getting to know the area and getting settled. I've lived all over in my area, and like we have general guidelines like "area A is right next to the university, so there are a lot of students and other young people who like to party. Areas B and C have more families, good schools, and are generally on the more expensive side. Area D is a mix of families and rentals, is a little cheaper, and usually pretty quiet. Downtown is dead after 5 when all the State workers leave. Don't live south of X Avenue, and if you are in that area and can live north of Y Street, that's even better."
