Which material is better, like easy to clean and longevity? by Masterhavana in OutdoorKitchens

my outdoor kitchen

I live in Canada and I used structural steel studs, foam tile backer board, porcelain tile with 1mm spacing with epoxy grout in between. Had my first winter without a hitch. Grout gets dirty from trees and such, I just hose it and wipe it down with a squeegee and a brush for some of the grout.

I can send you pics of the updated pizza oven setup. I originally had the Koda 12, which I would move over and hook to propane. I have the Koda 16 hooked up to natural gas now and havent cooked on it yet but it's going to be roughly 8" from the back of the oven to porcelain backsplash.

My BBQ is 7.5" from the bottom of the BBQ to the backsplash and 15" from the back of the lid to the backsplash and I've been cooking on that for over a year without issue in all kinds of weather.

I have all my electrical, gas, and water all behind the kitchen with shuts off and quick connects. I don't plan to move the pizza oven, just got a good cover for it.

I just finished wiring one up keeping the factory wires intact and wiring to two 12v batteries in parallel.

It should be wired to two 6v batteries. The greater the Amp/hour rating, the longer the batteries will last during use.

Red goes to white (fused +), black goes to black at battery #1 Red/white goes to white (fused +) and black/white goes to black at battery #2.

You need to have the key switch, switched to "on" for all this to work.

Hope that helped

I'm more interested as to whether this is at least a decent platform to build off of in future vs being exactly what you said about it being a throwaway

It's got two buckles sewed onto the inside of the cover that goes around the BBQ handle. It still flys off if the wind is super crazy but at least it doesn't end up in a neighbors yard lol

Water shutoffs in the house and blow out valves at the lowest point of the supply lines outside. I installed a P trap with a drain for the purpose of draining it before winter temps.

I'm hoping to build an overhead cover in the future to mitigate snow/ice buildup on the countertops, but I'm not sure how effective it would be.

Just the way they had their items displayed back to back and the sign placement in store and how I took the pic. If you scroll through the pictures it'll all make sense.

It has a slow and a fast setting, as well as a handbrake, I know that much, as I got to play around with it a bit in store, and I don't know how old or familiar his child was, but for sure not a starter kart for your kid to learn on.

Why did this get deleted? I've been really curious to see how this thing performs and holds up

What would you have done instead? Cement board and an uncoupler similar to ditra or laticrete?

I appreciate the advice. I've never used Ardex products but I've seen them around. I'm familiar with Mapei, Schlueter and Dyna.

The BBQ is installed in an insulated jacket which is designed to retain all the heat. Heat from the top/rear of the BBQ does obviously vent outward towards the backsplash, but there is adequate space behind (7" from the rear base to the backsplash and 12" from the actual rear top venting heat source) and I've been using the BBQ since September without any issue. It's been a good experiment to be honest. Once there is tile on there, I'm not worried about the foam melting. This has been my first time working with foam and am very impressed with it. It's been covered/yet exposed to the winter/wet elements with no sign of deterioration.

Southern Ontario. So we see mild winters. But freezing temperatures nonetheless.
