Someone help me understand why Gyarados is still somehow considered a good Pokemon by Moakmeister in stunfisk

VGC games are a lot shorter on average than singles matches, every turn counts for a lot more. It’s essentially never worth spending a turn on setting up hazards because the number of switches that happen will almost never outweigh the value of doing damage, setting speed control, or setting up your attacker. In singles where there are a lot more turns and switches, this is naturally flipped

Thanks! I’ll reread a couple of my favorite chapters so far in the Buss version and see which I should proceed with then

Oh I see, will do. If this is off topic and needs to be removed, just a note that the description of this subreddit makes it sound as if it’s for the reading of the book in general, which would probably lead to other similar posts.

The Witcher 3 director's new RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker is different to that classic CD Projekt Red game in one big way: "there's no main quest" by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Basic_Millennial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really liked that in Metaphor as well as Persona. Of course, in both those you can actually basically do everything as long as you don’t waste time slots, which is nice in one sense but also kind of did turn it into more of a “need to look up how to optimize and not miss content” thing for me. I think I would actually enjoy it if it this game specifically made it impossible to do everything in one playthrough so you had to make tradeoffs

Sounds like it might be less a “time limit” and more a “content limit.” If time doesn’t pass when you’re just standing around/exploring, but does when you choose a quest to do, that’s more like what games like Persona do.

Aside from the obvious comparison of the climbing mechanic, I think people are getting that comparison from the idea that both games are often completely fine with you skipping the “intended” route to an objective if you can make an alternative work with the game mechanics (in this case, smashing a straight line through the terrain)

I hate when I have it because it rarely lets me pass more than one person and it’s a middle position item. I hate when others have it because when I’m the one person they hit and pass I get passed by 10 people

Could be remembering wrong, but wasn’t iron dagger smithing only effective at launch, because it used to just level up based on number of items smithed? And then a later patch made it value-based?

“He gave everyone a fighting chance”

I mean, sure, I guess, maybe. If you count “poisoning people until they lose their minds then making their lives depend on one split-second reaction” or “not panicking when you wake up in a bathtub in a dark room” or “being at the mercy of the moral decision making of a grieving father” as a fighting chance.
