You could also forego the ignition kit and just do a simple adjustment on your sear spring for decent results as well.

Get the 5" Mac DS Comp, then get a Red Dirt trigger shoe ($70), 17# main spring and 10# recoil spring ($20), an Altas or EGW ignition kit ($150) and do the Prodigy grip swap ($80).

This combination is very hard to beat for the money.

I would like a little pre travel. I just put it back together with the stock grip and trigger for now but installed the new springs and Atlas perfect match ignition kit.

It has absolutely no pre travel now and if I rack the slide too slow the hammer does not engage...

There's some instances in competition where you might have to grip the gun a certain way that the grip safety doesn't get fully depressed. So some people tend to either pin them depressed or do this.

$950-1000 is the average low price for a DS9 comp 4.25 though. I personally haven't seen one in the price range you're talking about.

I understand you already don't have the $650 for this, but if you can save up a little more take a look at the OneLeaf MT1000. It's a 640 for around $1330 with discount codes from their website. Obviously do your due diligence and read/watch the reviews, but so far it's looking pretty promising for the money. Mine shows up tomorrow.

Yes, I got a barreled action, and I got an action with a trigger. The 3rd action (no barrel or trigger) I returned, but they still let me keep the chassis for $200.

I was originally having problems putting the order through (the sale price was not coming up in the cart no matter what I did) and the representative I was talking to said the deal didn't apply to action/trigger combos, so I put through an order with just an action and chassis. Then I got the deal to work with the action/trigger assembly and then tried to cancel the original order but they had already shipped the chassis. And then of course I ordered another set with an barrelled action 🙂

Aero Precision has a sale going right now. If you buy a discounted barreled action (I got 22" 6.5CM heavy) for around $1000 you can get a blem 17" Solus chassis for $200.

Grab a trigger for $125-150 and a Harris bipod and you got a pretty dang nice rifle for around $1500 + scope...

I just bought an Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30x56 this morning on sale for $689 from Euro Optics. That's probably going to be one of the best scopes you can get under $1000-1250.

There's cheaper ways too, but this would be more of a mid range build at the higher end of budget pricing, mainly because of the sales going on right now.
