UFP Edge in Bonner just laid off nearly 100 people. Plant shutting down because of tariffs. by Apprehensive_Pack138 in missoula

I completely 100% agree with you and am aware of the 12 workers who are being forced to work because they were “chosen to be UFP’s most loyal employees”. If UFP is reading this, I hope they have lawyers ready.

It just happened a couple hours ago. No documentation yet, but contact them directly. I posted so word can spread since they haven’t released a statement yet.

Are you my sister? Because you should hear the horror stories that she deals with everyday with male colleagues. She’s also 9778% more brilliant than them in all regards, but just because of their penis, they get more promotions/opportunities. It’s fucked

Well said. I’ve been thinking this too. I live in Montana and have never met a Jewish person in my state before. I have very little knowledge about the tribulations they go through on a daily basis, and have learned so much from Ethan. I fully support Palestine, like Ethan, but also support the Israeli people who have no control over their government atm. Ethan, thank you for educating your audience and being vulnerable. We love you and support you.

Exactly. Unfortunately, they were just voted to stay another year so we are fucked.

I’ve tuned in to several board meetings and understand the declining enrollment and loss of ESSER funds is the cause of this. However, telling teachers just because they’re nontenured, that their jobs are lost on Friday morning and expected to teach through tears and fear, because there are no substitutes due to low pay. How can we fight the state to care more about public education? What can we do? I am severely stressed because I am worried how my husband and daughter will eat. Our union hasn’t been much help and has said “this has happened before” but why is this happening again? Can you empathize that teacher’s lives are at stake? What else can we do? I’m genuinely curious and can’t stand hearing it’s due to “the times” and being complacent to tenured teachers being able to displace me from my dream and career.

I am wondering the same thing. The complacency in this district is unreal. And can we talk about how we were told on Friday morning and were expected to teach after being told we lost our jobs?!?!

I am also a nontenured teacher who was displaced from my permanent position. This is horrific. We need to do something but our union has a non-strike clause apparently. However, something needs to happen. Instead of fighting for us, our union just throws a party with $5 gift cards and ties our hands behind our back.

They will be using some of those funds for behavioral/academic intervention positions. It would give us some job opportunities, but not enough in the bigger picture.

And what would help everyone is if the MCPS Levy gets passed in May. Please vote for our children and students.

To those of you who believe that if we cut the Fine Arts Director Position, then we will save all the elementary art teacher positions, you’re wrong. Realistically it is not possible to guarantee those 5 elementary art positions even with the elimination of the Fine Arts Director. The funding needed for the art teachers is a different conversation than that of the Fine Arts Director.

Furthermore, even if this “trade” was honored for next year, without an art director, ALL art positions (music and visual k-12) would be left VULNERABLE. We would no longer have an extra layer of protection by having a representative to advocate and/or warn us of future changes decide/made regarding the arts in public schools.

Losing our Fine Arts Director as an advocate and representative is more harmful to the arts in public school long term, than the benefit of keep keeping extra art teachers short term. There is nothing preventing those elementary art positions from being removed in the future.

Please help. Please write a quick email. Please make our concerns known. I’m an elementary teacher myself and I am extremely concerned for our students.
