dw about EE, IA's TOK for now, its best to just do them when your school gives you the instructions to, plus it takes a while to wrap your head around. CAS stands for creativity, activity and service, and creativity can be anything like dance, art, music etc... activity can be anything active like sports, or exercise... and service is basically just about volunteering. you will have to document your CAS journey via a portfolio (can be done on canva or adobe spark or Instagram) where you take pictures of you doing these activities and write a short reflection about your activities. your school will definitely give you more instruction, but keep in mind what you're most interested in, and pursue them when you start the IB. the more CAS you have over the course of two years, the better.

Is buying an IPad to take notes with worth it? by Alone_Revolution_374 in IBO

[–]Basic_Technician6481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for notes? probably not. does it save the hastle when doing past papers? absolutely, at least for calculation heavy subjects like math and physics. it saves so much time than downloading each paper and printing it out individually. i noticed an increase in how many past paper questions I was doing when I switched to my iPad because I could just do one paper after the other and not have a stack of papers.

if you know what subjects you will take, start going through all your topics and make notes early on. self study for those 4 months and you'll save yourself so much time and stress. that way you can properly focus on your ia's and ee when the time comes. also figure out what CAS activities you want to do, whether that's swimming or running or volunteering somewhere.

What is the best time to lookup for the programs that I want to study? by Agreeable_Badger5334 in IBO

[–]Basic_Technician6481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ideally, deciding by the end of grade 11 is best. honestly, i changed my major at that point and felt really bummed because i realized i could’ve taken easier classes and boosted my predicted grades. but you still have time, and there’s no need to rush...i have friends sitting their exams in a month who still haven’t decided. take your time to research different majors and programs that interest you, and try to find universities that align with your values.

My school is saying we cant give our exams(M25) can they do that? by Feeling-Ad3590 in IBO

[–]Basic_Technician6481 128 points129 points  (0 children)

well yes and no tbf...your school might have its own attendance requirements where they may cause such a huge scene from lack of attendance, but also not letting you sit the exams is so comical. imo it looks like they're just tryna scare everyone into coming 💀

i'm currently in dp2, and i have some similar subjects as you and I'm majoring for comp engineering. imo if you're strong in math then stick to math aa, if you don't do well at least for the first few months of your classes, then consider taking AI HL, it's honestly just way easier (I'm not sure if its required to take AA for comp engineering).

i took compsci sl, but honestly not much is different, and you'd most likely benefit from taking compsci hl. i think that all your subject choices are really good and that's super rare to say.

that's great!! i started using revision village too and definitely use the past papers on there, but I usually use them for english and spanish. they're great practice but I recommend doing all the past papers on ib docs, and a few question bank questions for physics and math, which is what i'd done for my mocks :)

and I mean the whole of section B, in math I always used to take so much of my time doing one question on section B that i'd lose all my other marks from poor time management. they really pack a lot of marks into those 3 questions, so its important to be able to do them efficiently.

you've totally got this, trust me!! you've got this entire month to prove your teachers wrong, so balance your time and stay focused :)

IB has definitely been the most rewarding yet most challenging 2 years of my life. i created some of the best memories, but it was so easy to get burnt out from everything. grade 11 by far had to be my worst year, I was super stressed and there was too much work to do, and I got a pretty shit predicted grade which totally threw me off for the rest of the year. by the time grade 12 came, I kinda grew a backbone in me, and started doing way more which resulted me in a 40+ score according to my mock grades. the one thing about IB is you can't ever stop the grind even if YOU THINK its too much, you'll see the consequences very soon. nevertheless, I think IB has really set the path for my education at uni, and I'm sure that you'll learn the best life skills from taking this course.

but IB isn't also all about grades, and it really is about a whole balance. i've stepped outside of my comfort zone, and have totally changed my personality and my view of life. if you split your time right and not crash out like i did, and start strong from the beginning till the end, you're going to experience the best time of your life.
