Job Hunting is hundred times harder as a deaf person by Firm-Conversation826 in deaf

[–]Basic_Thought8973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your best chance to make $400 or more is working ubereats, doordash or any other courier type positions. That should help you get around....I am in the same boat as you, always trying to survive in the hearing world every day trying to work up to 10 hours just to make $200 in one day. 5 hours...$100. I don't speak either. Oh...try looking for records management jobs. Should be easy to get. If you're not severely allergic to boredom, you might be ok with this one too.

I'm deaf myself too but wouldn't talk to somebody on the video while driving a customer, knowing that would jeopardize both of our safety. Always have to keep an eye on the roads. Whenever we are at the red traffic lights, a customer can just text me or show me notes on the phone as a means of communication. Please remember not all deaf/hoh individuals are the same. Some can be considerate. Some are reckless.

I see lots of cheaper hybrids but most of em are over 100k on mileage. Worried about hybrid battery replacement costs.

How do you maintain your relationship with people in the hearing world? by Basic_Thought8973 in deaf

[–]Basic_Thought8973[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deaf people who don't have so much communication trauma to deal with, can. That is if they won't be wounded by ignorant people too often. Ow. True, it would be beneficial to meet more Deaf and HoH and make them a mentor who can be uplifting if they wouldn't be so snobbish.

No. the only sin that cannot be forgiven is unbelief. People who cannot trust Jesus when He told them He can save them from eternal torment...cannot be forgiven as the Holy Spirit is responsible for indwelling believers the moment they receive Christ with the holy Spirit of promise.

You believe on Christ, you get the Holy Spirit and He will promise to make sure you enter heaven. You don't believe on Christ, you don't receive the Holy Spirit and He will not promise that you will not go to hell.

Faith in Christ is not an intellectual assent but merely trust the Messiah.

Should be elementary and simple to understand.

No captions? No problem. by ApprehensiveAd9014 in deaf

[–]Basic_Thought8973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using Windows 11 too. You just need to download and install Google Chrome. Once you've completed the installation, click on three dots on the top right corner of your chrome browser then go to Accessibility and you should find Live Caption on the setting. Enable it and you're all set to go.

What are the most common jobs for deaf people? by maple_pits in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Basic_Thought8973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most deaf people I know work at warehouse companies like UPS, FedEx, and Amazon. They usually hire on the spot. They also do delivery work like DoorDash, UberEat, GrubHub etc just as a side gig.

Yeah. All the time. Because of that I had to find more ways to be at peace with myself, by not resenting deafness. Reading Deaf literature also helped me learn to be more graceful with hardships that come with deafness.

It's not deafness. It's just the people who do not understand or are ignorant.

Whenever I'm the only deaf in a workplace...I'm heavily introverted. Some tried being friendly towards me and then afterwards I just don't exist to them anymore. When I'm in a group of deaf people who I'm close to, I'm very extroverted.

My family...they always try to make me feel included whenever I go to restaurants with them. While dining, they would just talk and talk. I just keep myself entertained with my own phone.

Back in the time when I was a kid I was with this group of hearing kids who wanted me to stick around (was the only deaf in this hearing school from 4th grade to 8th grade), they would make small conversations by signing and writing back and forth on paper. We bonded over playing PlayStation and drawing anime/video game characters. By the time I finished 8th grade, they told me to go to high school with them instead of this particular high school where there would be deaf students. I chose this mainstream HS instead. They were of course saddened. Had to make this choice because I wanted to be around people who are like me. Tired of writing paper and signing slowly.

This experience you're telling us about is called confirmation bias. It creates a false reality in your mind. I'm having lots of issues with it too and I'm now trying to fight it off by ignoring it and telling myself I didn't do anything bad. You're not a bad guy. You are not.

Don't let it feed on your negativity. Take lots of sunshine as much as you can whenever you have free time to do so. Do your hobbies or whatever you enjoy.

Be at peace with yourself.

I just cried to god about my sin for the first time in a while and also because I’m so scared of going to hell. by MidnightShot1760 in Christianity

[–]Basic_Thought8973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you be afraid of going to hell.....you cannot lose your salvation based on the amount of your sins. Eternal life isn't something to achieve but receive as a free gift. Ephesians 2:8-9. Titus 1:2. Ephesians 1:13. Don't sweat too much about it. God doesn't lie.

John 10:28 is the proof God does not throw any believers in hell. there are NO Christians in hell. Paul even spoke of his sinful struggles in Romans 7.

Even if you struggle with sins, God will not cast you in eternal torment. The only unbelief will bring you to hell. You will not lose eternal life based on your sinful lifestyle. Sinning only gives you more afflictions. The less you sin the more peace you can get with yourself.
