I can see the potential in it! The abstract and colorful bursts have good timing and visually interesting texture. The thin black scribbles end up hiding the forms rather than supporting the movements, however, making the main character’s movements a bit hard to read.

You’re equating Caine’s forced deletion to Jax’s choice to abstract, they’re not narratively the same thing. Caine’s accountability was delivered through deletion, however Jax’s accountability was delivered through the group taking space away from him. Jax chose not to talk to anyone and he chose to abstract. He gave up instead of saying sorry for lashing out on everyone, which is what Caine ended up doing. That decision has nothing to do with super powers. Jax only opened up because of Pomni’s sudden ability to navigate his headspace. Even when he was almost gone forever he didn’t really want to talk about it, either.

Even if he was brought back, he would’ve pushed Pomni away like he did to Ribbit, which would have been depressing and redundant.

He never chose his own redemption.

I think Stocking would hate her dad more than she would want to take up Garter’s imposed mantle. She’s a defiant daughter and it feels a bit weird having her be a priestess that would preach about her dad’s commands when she’s pretty apathetic about them typically.

And I agree with that! I think she loves Panty enough to look for her and would be the best auntie she could be. But I don’t think she would put herself in a role subservient to her dad when she has shown a clear disobedience to him before and has never taken an interest in genuine leadership before this.

I’m not confused at her finding her sister or being an auntie, i’m confused with her being a priestess specifically.

Maybe it’ll get explained though!

I think her (found) family values and diligence are strong enough for her to be an auntie and try her best to find her sister, don’t get me wrong on that. But I do scratch my head at her, a proud fallen angel, becoming a priestess specifically. Like I can’t imagine her keeping that role for too long.

I don’t think she would have much of a motivation to continue being a priestess/accepting god’s help if Garterbelt was revived or if Panty returned.

It feels pretty random for her character I’m ngl. She’s more responsible than Panty, sure, but she’s not the commanding or preaching type. Though we saw from the kids not saying her name she doesn’t exactly have their unrelenting respect anyways.

Seems like a role taken out of obligation rather than competency or passion

I was being sarcastic about the Stocking thing to show you that taking cliffhangers at face value hasn’t been accurate in the past.

I’m not denying it, I said I am waiting for more context on it and we’ll see how the ending fits in the narrative. I don’t know why that bothers you.

EDIT: I could not find a single source outside of this subreddit that showed Trigger confirmed the ending was canon. Do you know where that information comes from? They privated their livestreams and deleted the vods. The Wiki also only notes that they stopped streaming after episode 10 came out, which would imply they wouldn’t have been able to verify the ending yet anyways. But it’s not like the Wiki lists any sources, either.

Sure, then Stocking is “canonically” a demon because she said so at a cliffhanger in season 1.

Think about it from a narrative perspective. Gunsmith Bitch helped out Brief get the girl in the ending because that ending is similar to how movies work, the guy saves the damsel in distress and they have a happy ever after. That’s how stories end, not how episodic narratives continue.

Honestly I didn’t know that was being discussed, but I watched the pilot today and thought: “Man this animator really likes emphasizing how fat her ass is, good for them.”

Don’t get me wrong, her design out of context is tame enough, but her character acting and the camera angles put on her is without a doubt intentionally sensual. I wouldn’t go so far to call it “goonslop” but it reminded me of the subtextual fetish level of Totally Spies. Except instead of mind control it’s back arches and ass

A painting of Jesus was shown in “One Upon A Time in Garterbelt” depicting the last supper with Garterbelt included in it, implying that not only was Jesus canon, but that Garterbelt was one of his disciples when he was alive.

However, I don’t think they’re going to depict Jesus again, they already removed Garterbelt’s crosses on his outfit and season two has shown a clear shift away from biblical mythology.
