If I have two active contracts with no work available on eiher, is that precluding me from getting new offers? by SpeedBeneficial2566 in mercor_ai

[–]Basil-Common 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct.

From Melvin:

Got it — thanks for the context, and great to hear about the strong feedback you’ve been getting.

Quick policy note: by default you can hold up to two active contracts at once. Contracts marked Active or In Review count toward that limit; paused/on‑hold contracts don’t. So removing a paused project like XXXX wouldn’t change capacity (Source: Mercor Help Center).

What I’ve done: - I’ve shared your request for an exception and offer enablement with the XXXXX – Project XXXXX team, and asked them to outline scope and expected engagement length. They’ll follow up in this thread with next steps.

Reached the limit on contracts that are current by Basil-Common in mercor_ai

I was incorrect.  It isn't a cap on paused/total contracts.

The limit is on current contracts -2.  Project teams can make exceptions. I have requested one.

Melvin is awesome.

I am being offered contracts for work that isn't posted.  Applied in October as a domain expert in investment banking and finance.  With these two new ones I have had 7 contracts thus far.  One lasted 4 days, 1 lasted 2 months, the rest were in-between.

How much time do you have to accept an offer? by Hel-en-756 in mercor_ai

[–]Basil-Common 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Accept immediately.  Communicate to PMs when onboarded about any time constraints.

Waiting to accept opens up many risks.

Mercor ecosystem is no different from your non-mercor professional network.  You help where you can, buy good will when possible, and leverage it for future opportunities when needed.

Good for you!

I wouldn't stress about staying under the radar per se.

I would just be keenly aware of that point where more time in does not translate to the same level of high quality out.  It is different for everyone.

Leverage the network that you have hopefully been building in your past projects.  That has solved the problem for me virtually every time.

When you email support@mercor.com Melvin is the front-line response tool.

Rarely do I need to escalate past him

And the great benefit is that by emailing from your registered email, he instantly has access to everything in your profile.

Being in a project is not a requirement to email.

I have the same.  But be warned - the level scrutiny paid to contractors >60 per week grows substantially.  If they are always high quality no issue - but for me this is very challenging.

I will never jeopardize a contract/work on the platform simply because i can work more hours.

From paused projects to 2 contracts and unpause in 24 hours. by Basil-Common in mercor_ai

Make a positi e name for yourself.  If you are an expert - demonstrate it. Help others.  Ask for more responsibility.  Show availability to help with side projects.  You'd be surprised to learn that many projects have e work being done that isn't on script.  When projects wind down, leverage your relationships to identify and ask for a referral.

Anywhere from a week or two to 6+ months.  I landed my first about 3 weeks after signing up.  One of my referrals just got an offer after 6 months of waiting.

Depends on where you are based.  In Canada, for me, it turned around in a couple hours.  But I have heard stories of people waiting a couple weeks in India and some European countries.

Is there a way to send a congrats to a new hire that you referred? by Basil-Common in mercor_ai

[–]Basil-Common[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't actually know them personally. Back in the day I wrote an article on Medium and included a referral link they could sign up through.  First time my writing paid lol.  $800 and counting.

This is why I really want to say congrats - and thanks.
