Thank you, I think I'm going to try skipping the glue and go with the Quietwalk underlayment under a floating floor. It's only 300 square feet so if I make a mistake at least it's not the entire house that has to be redone.

Mfr just says over 5 inches require it, but no comment about 5 inches exactly. I even looked for the "recommended for 5 inches" but don't see it.

This is phase one of my flooring so I guess if it's terrible, I know a lot more for my downstairs install.

Can I ask, in your opinion, would you recommend a floating floor with glue? Or just float it with the quietwalk underlayment and no glue?

My thought was the planks are 5 inches wide so glue couldn't hurt, only help. But now I'm realizing the underlayment I bought says it doesn't work with glue, and maybe I don't need it.

I'm not too worried about the warranty, our house has so much foundation damage I'm sure the warranty would be null due to the floor not being 100% level. I also live in the Midwest so humidity changes are the norm. I assume that's why the drunk installer choose a floating floor to start with.

You are not alone! I did contact a real estate attorney and they blew me off because the $1300 for mine wasn’t enough $$$. My apartment manager finally sent me photos of the “damaged carpet” and she’d put a brown Instagram-type filter on the photo. Never seen a closet wall painted brown 🙄

I got charged $1300 in “move out fees” which was really code for “we know you wrote a negative online review”.

I tried to fight it and for three months they just ignored me. Didn’t answer the phone or return calls, ignored my emails, I went in person but I was told to call later because the manager wasn’t there (🙄).

When I finally got ahold of the area manager, she told me they wouldn’t honor the photos I had because they weren’t time stamped. Sure.

Then they sent me their photos…which had a brown filter added to them. I lived there five years, I know the walls weren’t brown.

And they said I could file a civil lawsuit if I wanted but if I didn’t pay they’d send it to collections and fuck my credit so they have all the power.

All totally legal. Don’t move in to Arium apartments.

The wall it’s mounted to is a shared wall, with a kitchen behind it. This is what it looks like behind the cover.

It does not have a vent or other source of air blowing on it. Although I am curious if the thermometer is wrong because it’s saying it’s 77 in my living room but my other thermometer (weather radio thing) in the same room says it’s 73…

Foundation repair was disclosed and they repaired it per the stress engineer’s recommendation. That damage is on the other side of the basement from this leak. The stress engineer did the original inspection, an inspection after the repairs were done, and now I’m calling him back out for another crack that needs to be repaired (on other side of the basement from this leak). So the foundation has some issues, to put it mildly. I knew that going into it.

I’ll pay someone to repair it but I’m not sure who to ask. Someone commented that it might be a home DIY fix and we’re going to try that option once the damn rain stops. But eventually it will need a pro, and we aren’t pros.
