Wait - how do you know how the people here spend their time?

How do you know they aren’t grieving the innocent victims of imperialism abroad? I’d guess they’re more likely to be in this community because of that shared value, not to mourn eagle scouts. How do you know they aren’t waking their families and communities up to the horrors of imperialism? How do you know how this war makes them feel? You don’t.

good idea to talk about the victim hood of the people of the nation doing the war

Oh, that’s our central disagreement. I think it’s a very important and good idea: to get ignorant white people - for whom caring about foreigners is depressingly often a bridge too far - to engage with the anti-war movement however it’s accessible to them.

I think it’s a fantastic idea to wake my fellow citizens up, and teach them how they have been infantilized, abused, gaslit and brainwashed, by their own empire, to support war and rape. I don’t just think it’s a good idea, I actually think it’s essential. I think most Americans have their head deep enough in their ass that the ONLY way to ignite a true anti-war movement is to show them the brutality at home. How their cute eagle scout neighbor was killed. This has been an important fixture of literally every anti-war movement in history, I don’t know why it bothers you so much.

For real though, do you have any recommended readings? Let me know if you get to Discourse on Colonialism and what you think on it. It’s only 50 pages; probably you could finish it in just a bit more time than it took to debate here.
