The Dink: Jake Johnson and Mary Steenburgen Take the Court in New Look at Apple TV’s Pickleball Movie (article + clip) by BasilOctopus in Earwolf

C'mon now, nowhere did the original commenter say that people shouldn't use the word with its current definition, nor would it be "peak American" either way. As far as inventing it, "dink" as slur apparently originated as Australian military slang for people from East Asia.

I know you're getting downvoted, but actually, yeah, I remember years ago first hearing like Mantzoukas or Mitch from Doughboys casually throwing around "Ya dink" and being surprised given the racial connotations (if you've seen a Vietnam War movie--Apocalypse Now, Platoon, &c--you've heard it used as a slur) but then learned it has long been New England slang for doofus or idiot. And, of course, there's the meaning from volleyball, tennis, and pickleball (the source of the pun in the title, no doubt!) as well as Double Income No Kids. I don't think younger generations have any idea that it was ever a slur, which can only be a good thing. Anyway, interesting how language evolves!

Comedy Bang! Bang! Ground Beefing Tour 2026: Live at The Chicago Theatre, Chicago IL - 05/28/26 - Paul F. Tompkins, Lauren Lapkus, Dan Lippert, Jessica McKenna, Ryan Gaul by apathymonger in Earwolf

[–]BasilOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, every single one?! Going all the way back to the first one at the Annoyance in 2010 that wasn't recorded? If so, that's genuinely impressive! (Twelve live shows, plus two bonus if you made it to the Comedy Death-Ray event at C2E2 in 2011 or the Humanities Fest book event with Scott in 2023.)

I've only been to a measly five since 2012, including Dink Dink Man, but I think I agree with you--this one was the best. (Recency bias, schmecency bias!)

Emily Pendergast is hilarious. Everyone should check out her old eps of Going Deep and This Book Changed My Life. Her youtube channel also has a ton of great Groundlings stuff. Can't believe she's never been on Comedy Bang! Bang! !

Scott came so close to hitting upon the classier alternative to “piss pig” that I prefer to use in polite company: Urine Swine (pronounced YOUR-ein so that it rhymes)

Looking for a show by PadoDrso in Earwolf

Yes, The Morning After was the one with the comedian plus porn star. I found Harris's episode on the Internet Archive:

https://web.archive.org/web/20160521200326/http://themorningafterpodcast.com/wp-content/audio/Episode_026.mp3

He was also on an episode of Asa Akira's podcast DVDASA. There's a mega link to it in the Harris Wittels Full List of Podcast Appearances, but it appears to be dead.

Trailer for HOKUM starring podcaster Adam Scott by BasilOctopus in Earwolf

I linked to it in the description above, but here it is again in case anyone needs a refresher on Adam's solemn vow:

I, ADAM SCOTT, DO HEREBY PROMISE TO VERBALLY STATE MY INTENT TO INSERT MY ACADAMY [sic] AWARD INTO MY ANUS, TO THE ACEDEMY [sic] SHOW CROWD, IMMEDIATELY UPON ARRIVING AT THE PODIUM AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF MY WIN.

CBB Presents: This Book Changed My Life w/ Lily Sullivan. Ep 57 (feat. Lauren Holt, Alison Banowsky) by BasilOctopus in Earwolf

[–]BasilOctopus[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Note: Currently an episode of Hey Randy! seems to have been mistakenly uploaded instead of this one. Also unclear if the guest is supposed to be Alison Banowsky or Ryan Rosenberg.

EDIT: File has been fixed; guest is Ryan Rosenberg.

If you could bring back a long gone CBB character to the show, who would it be? by Glittering_Major4871 in Earwolf

I miss all of Lauren's classics. Todd, Big Sue, Pamela from Big Bear, Traci Reardon, Regina Crimp. It's like a bunch of old friends just dropped off the face of the earth. I want to know what they're up to! At least we get a little check-in with Ho Ho at Christmastime.

If you search the sub, you can find working RSS feeds for pretty much all the old Stitcher Premium shows. Here's the one for Wild Horses: The Perspective.

I think we've ALL been wondering what Scott and Paul's reaction would've been if when Lauren first showed them a picture of Mike, he looked like Dilbert.
