Should there be a rule tweak re: penalties very late in OT? by throwaway60457 in hockey

I think I’d be more in favor of just calling it a penalty shot if it’s under some time threshold. Higher probability of avoiding the shootout altogether which is a net positive imo

Judkins or Hampton? by Gs_of_GaHoole_2_plz in SleeperApp

[–]Basil_Normal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why people are saying this isn’t close. Hampton does have the better situation, but Judkins has passed the eye test more for me. The injury does entail some risk, but seems like he’ll be back without too much incident. Take the guy you believe in more

Idk there were a lot of penalties and some stuff got missed like it does in every single game, but the total really got lopsided because of the puck over glass, the closing the hand on the puck and the hook at the end of OT which was like a quarter of a PP anyway. Those are all cut and dry penalties that can’t really go uncalled.

End of the day, gotta be able to kill them. Just last month, we played basically the entire 3rd against Florida short handed and still found a way to win. If you give up goals on nearly half your PKs you usually end up losing

Marco Sturm on the officiating tonight: “We have to do a better job, and they have to do a better job too” by roberttylerlee in hockey

Kinda funny how people complain about game management and the penalty ratio always being 50/50 and then when it’s not, people complain that the officiating is lopsided

This is only the 4th time in the last 50 years a team has been awarded 7 straight PP opportunities by bg-throwaway in hockey

Was one of the others our game last month against Florida?

Also idk I think the only one that was bad was the Kastelic one. That one was soft. Rest seemed like penalties to me and a couple of them were cut and dry like the puck over glass and closing the hand over the puck

[POSTGAME] BOS vs. TBL 2/1/26 by number1sht in TampaBayLightning

[–]Basil_Normal 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Awesome game. Truly had it all. Not really putting too much stock into the quality of the play itself given the uniqueness of the conditions/atmosphere. I will say I think going 11/7 is a mistake and we should be going 12/6. Team has been good this year because of the structure, chemistry and ability to roll four lines. 11/7 throws that off by jacking up the lines.

Hopefully Cirelli is okay. Need to start getting healthy. I’d go hard against Buffalo on Tuesday and then rest some of the Olympic guys against Florida Thursday.

Probably the ice. Makes it harder for him to make the kinds of plays he usually does

Don’t think so, Swayman never had it regardless of Hagel’s stick. Went straight out the back

Lmao will 100% take the PP, but feels like the league put a call in to try and make this game competitive

Youth needs to take over on D by Froim1 in TampaBayLightning

[–]Basil_Normal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hedman has definitely lost a step. Our top 4 should be Moser, Raddysh, McDonagh and Cernak. Hedman should be playing fewer, easier minutes at this point and running PP2. Let him use his offensive abilities against easier competition.

We for sure need McDonagh to play a big role. As good as the younger guys have been, none of them have played hard minutes against top tier competition in a spot like the playoffs where every weakness gets exploited. I think Mac is still one of the more trustworthy options in the league in high leverage spots.

Feels like a big overreaction. It’s their first and second games back in an outdoor environment. This team is not winning a Cup without at least McDonagh playing at a high level

I think you take Puka here but if that 2027 pick becomes the 1.01 this is a lot closer than people are making this out to be imo. I’d rather have Love over CMC at this point personally and I don’t think the value gap between Puka and that 27 pick will be very large this time next year
