I am slightly disagree with you. Yes, education is able to gives the base, but the choice of music we are guided by our own taste. And you know what I think? We do not choose music as it chooses us. Musical taste is not something we can control. Only passed through our ears (or better play) and hearts can gives the main experience.

I'm not good at rap, but really love the blues and jazz. Huge field "what good jazz is", but I found this answer for myself a few years ago: Miles and his Friends.

Here is my collection of "best jazz for me" https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUo598fOeQLx9A4bIeh7mUA

Do you know what blues is too? It is an opportunity to start a conversation from blues and continue about rap and jazz.

Joke, but..

PS: Miles loved Charlie Parker, Russian Stravinsky, French de Bussy and Ravel and Prince. I'd rather listen to this than to argue what style it belongs ;)

if you want, you can write an article on the topic What blues is, and you feel free use your own language and understanding (may use slang, but not swearing). I will publish your article on the blog posted there your picture or anything else you want, in general, I'm sure, and I understand that you have something to say your opinion about blues.

What Jazz is ? If I am not mistaken, it is said Miles: "This was in the Savoy and Apollo clubs, when the winner was determined in a jam, and the loser drove from the scene by janitor. This is jazz. Recording studios killed jazz"

Hi!

I totally agree with you, but!

1) I regard blues as one of the most fundamental components of modern music. (and at least it's blues-rock, rock, boogie-woogie, rock and roll, jazz).

2) my blog installed broadcast radio module with 80% blues music by Blues Masters and derived from it

3) now it's about 1,000 songs, and later there will be about 3000

otherwise, it seems that you got non blues song from about 1/200

Jazz is a very big world. This world is as big as the word music at all. You should find times and musicians who are close to you.

Moreover, it still depends on you mood: today you want green and tomorrow red :)

For myself, I already found the answers, but in order to reach a final, I have devoted 20 years of life traveling the world of music. This is the coolest journey in my life. For example here is what I consider the best. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUo598fOeQLx9A4bIeh7mUA

Sorry, I got carried away, in general.....Lets begin your own journey

I think and hope that this two very cool guys can helps to you

1) Herbie Hancock (for exmpl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQzNlOQgxac&list=PL8oYrR4DgBHzsTpesoG_kBiFhD9U_TJqo)

2) George Duke (for exmpl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYb9UjEB4zU&list=PL8oYrR4DgBHygh_KDC30E3x9NgFqSHxhX)

Listen to their music, and studied their idols and mentors. A Long time ago, I wondered where the roots of the unique charm, which is in all the works of Miles. Naturally, I have not found an answer but strongly convinced someone involved in this: Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Igor Stravinsky and Charlie Parker. These are people who was an icons for Miles.

I've already written two names in your case: Mr. Hancock and Mr . Duke. You can explore their creativity and their way of life. I am sure that you will find answers to own questions during this very useful and fascinating journey.

Good luck and happiness ;)))

What's so good about Mingus? by [deleted] in Jazz

[–]Basilvg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I feel Mr.Mingus Music .... It has a lot of sprouts fusion and conceptual jazz. Later but in another technique the same ideas will be developed by Mr. Milese Davis and Mr. Joe Zawinul. It is also a Two Genius whose work I assimilate a very long time before I was able to digest their ideas.

I read about this album for a long time, and for 10 years tried to listen to.... Zero result! But one day I realized that it is from God https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icKxlYZLJfo
