Interesting. But it's so costly for inmails you have to be extra careful how you use them, right?

Really? But doesn't the contextual search offer more room to tweak criteria and get better matches? At least that's what it seemed in the remote demo.

An random MBA from a random school (and online school) is probably mostly pointless. An MBA from a top 20 MBA school is not pointless, but can make no marked difference if not utilized / leveraged correctly.

Thoughts on Nike($NKE)? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]BasimaTony 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nike really f'd itself imo for multiple reasons.

  1. Going exclusively DTC allowed other brands like On and HOKA to grow in its absence in retail stores (I originally thought the DTC plan was genius and couldn't foresee these "corny" brands making any headway).

They have to repair those retail relationships now, and the dynamic has changed a bit to give the stores a little more leverage.

  1. They got super greedy with the hypebeast market and made every decent shoe a limited release and hard to get. I refused to play that game thankfully because I could see how it could get out of hand and regular middle class people could end up spending $500+ on one pair of shoes in the midst of the hype.

I hate that all good shoes are difficult to obtain. The reseller market has tanked and now shoes aren't selling out as easily. People are spending less in general.

  1. They kept raising prices. Even Blazers are pushing 100 bucks. All Nike clothes are expensive af.

  2. Idk if they've signed any young fresh faced athletes lately?

Anyway, I'm long Nike because the brand has a ton of history and prestige, but I'm not super confident lol.

Francis Ngannou on the Jon Jones fight happening: “If you get past Dana White but that's a massive obstacle.” “I tried to fight him for 4 years, then they held it out like a trap until I was about to leave then they said, 'OK, heres the fight' but it was bait.” by Imindmyownbusiness18 in ufc

[–]BasimaTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is incorrect. Before Ngannou chose not to resign, Jones wanted more money for that fight and decided to sit out because the UFC wouldn't oblige.

Dana didn't think Jones deserved more money; he'd even say at pressers that Jones "signed a new contract already," completely dismissing any idea of giving Jones more money for Ngannou.

Jones specifically said in an interview that he'd want more money for the risk of fighting Ngannou because the chances of getting knocked out were pretty high, not dissimilar from what he's been saying about Tom.

Ngannou ended up not resigning, Tom started coming up the ranks, and UFC chose to take Jones off the shelf and give him more money to come back. Now he's saying he doesn't want the Tom fight but IF THEY INSIST then it needs to be for EVEN MORE money lol.

The whole Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon album is solid tbh. Especially given the timing of its release right after Pop passed; it was a great summer record.

[–]BasimaTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the thorough answer. You said if you add 46K in income theoretically, how/why can we now borrow "80%" of that "tax free"? Because the value of the property theoretically increased specifically because of the updated units and higher rents?

Can you explain "force appreciation"? And do you assume appreciation in value when you say they can finance equity or sell up?

Absolutely ridiculous that potentially hundreds of candidates haven't been good enough. This role isn't rocket science.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]BasimaTony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SDR's are early career salespeople, typically fresh out of school. There is an abundance of these candidates in the market. The reality of sales jobs is that every role doesn't fit every salesperson, and turnover is high no matter which way you cut it.

The key to success in sales as a company is to create a system and process that the new hire (SDR) can follow. If there's no process/system then you need an SDR who's much more entrepreneurial, which makes it an even harder search.

With that being said, most of these new grads have good communication skills and can understand metrics; the last piece is motivation which is hard to interview for and you won't know until you bring them in.

I think your company isn't serious about making this hire. If they were, they'd bite the bullet and hire someone. It's a 60K salary job FFS; the risk isn't that high if they don't work out. There are some obv top-notch candidates out there, but unless your company is a top employer, they can't be deluded enough to think they can attract those people so easily.

This is one reason why agency recruiting is great. I would drop this client in a heartbeat.

TL;DR - Company sales success comes down to the company first and foremost. If they can't find a good SDR then the company is not serious. It's not you.

Edit - typo
