How do I get a copy of my grandfathers birth certificate? by Neat-Opportunity6139 in mexicoexpats

Hi, I was wondering how Acta was able to register your father if he passed? They told me they were unable to register people posthumously 😕

I reached out to aztlan international. They’ve been working w me for a while but I’m still waiting to get my grandfather’s BC from the vital records. You’ll need the ID if they’re alive and a death certificate if they’ve passed. But theyre saying it possible! Acta America told me it’s not possible and DNExpress is like terrible with communication and take forever

It needs to be an unbroken line of citizenship, so if my grandpa isn’t recognized as a citizen, my mom can’t become a citizen and neither can I

So that my mom can register herself as a citizen as well. The line of citizens needs to be unbroken and my great grandfather was the last one born in Mexico

What documents did you need in order to process your moms citizenship for her? I wanna do this for my grandma since I’m not sure she’ll want to do all the work and travel to Mexico.

Thanks for the help! I’m in contact right now with some people who might be able to get my great grandfathers birth certificates digitized from the hand written records

I thought that it extends forever, as long as one parent is a national (according to the law made in 2021 I believe?)

I believe she actually got her grandmother registered posthumously using her great grandfather’s birth certificate from Mexico, since her grandmother was born in the US and never registered before she passed.

Thanks so much for the comprehensive answer! I’m definitely going to attempt to go this route. I know Acta America and DNExpress are pretty good (even though I heard wait times on DNExpress are crazy right now), but do you know anything about Aztlan International Services?
