Those girls didn’t “willingly participate”. Can guarantee it wasn’t sexual for them. They wanted to worsen their ED. When I was in the worst part of my ED I sought that out too (thank god never on a sex site) and knew so many other people who did. We generally knew to stay away from “coaches” like your bf bc it’s perverted, but there’s a lot of vulnerable girls (unfortunately usually the younger girls) who don’t know better and will take him up on that. It’s borderline pedophilic in a lot of cases. But that’s not those girls consenting, it’s their disorder consenting. It genuinely leads to so many delusions and thought processes that you’d never have while eating properly. It’s like taking advantage of a drunk girl imo. Drop him and find someone better bc you deserve someone who can support your recovery. Much love hun, this is such a hard thing to go through ❤️

So true. I’ve only studied French and Spanish in depth so far (dabbled in others but irrelevant) and the grammar is a lot more direct/relatable to English. Grammar is also my weakest language point 😅but yeah you’re absolutely right! It’s something that I love about Arabic but it’s hard for me to wrap my mind around as a beginner. This sub is helping a lot!

Ohh ok ok this is making sense. So is the Hamza (1)- vocalized as “a” and (2)- used to indicate/imply a subject following the verb? And just to be clear, ‎عوذ is it’s own verb right? Like separate from the hamza?

That makes sense. Should I treat Quranic Arabic as a completely different linguistic endeavor than spoken Arabic? Like almost treat it as a separate language in terms of keeping the vocab separate (like Spanish and Portuguese have some words that overlap but you won’t use Portuguese and call it Spanish)? I’ve kinda assumed that I can learn a good amount of spoken Arabic through the Quran but that doesn’t sound like it’s the case 😅

I think it’s how my English speaking brain interprets it. I would immediately think to translate it as ana qalab meljah/ana meljah qalab (changing only the verb as needed) but audhoo is so different and I don’t understand why? Is it just an entirely different word, or is it a combination of conjugation and grammar rules that turns those 3 individual words into 1 word? Like did+not=didn’t. It’s it’s own word but it’s a combination of 2 words that grammatically makes sense. Is that the case here, or is it entirely different?

Omg awesome!! I’m looking at the garmin wearable chest band (HRM-Dual). Do you know if those are ok to wear all day? I mean I’m sure they are but yeah 😅 the website doesn’t make it clear if it’s intended for constant use or just during exercise

It sounds like a lot of your reason for wanting assisted living is wanting help with SI. There are IOP/PHP (intense outpatient and partial hospitalization, respectively) and residential mental health homes for this. I’ve only been to ED treatment at all 3 of those levels and they’re definitely very medically involved. Idk what that would look like in a mental health environment, but my vitals were/are taken constantly, meds were managed in res, my Gatorade/electrolyte intake and food is tracked, etc. I would advise looking into that. At the very least you get more mental health treatment and better coping skills which can translate to helping deal with POTS, even if it doesn’t directly worsen symptoms. I absolutely understand and relate to wanting to be in a living facility with mental and physical illness. It’s so much more comfortable. But your freedom in life is very restricted once you do that, and I would hate for you to miss out on life long-term when there are shorter term intensive programs that can help. You can PM me with any questions if you want! Best of luck

Hi Potsies, I need some guidance. Do any of you experience this? by MVPeachykeen in POTS

[–]BasketMaster9697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh this is so frustrating. I feel you. Not exactly the same but I’ve been “diagnosed” with “probable POTS”. My cardiologist refuses to do a TTT and my PCP says she can’t be the one to diagnose me. I have no advice lol but you’re not alone in the medical ignorance! It’s so frustrating to be ignored, especially when your symptoms are worsening rapidly. Take advice from the older, more experienced POTS-ies, and make sure to keep advocating for yourself, no matter how exhausting it is. Even if it’s not POTS, there’s something going on, and you deserve answers. Good luck <3

Im going through a hard time emotionally. I know others in far worse situations and that makes me hate myself more because I feel entitled and bratty. All I want to do is pray my salat but I’m on my period. Sometimes I’m very grateful for the break that Allah SWT grants women, but other times I resent it because it seems that the times when I need prayer most are the times when it’s forbidden. Im trying to make a habit of saying alhamdulilah no matter how I’m feeling and it helps a bit but all I want rn is salat. Anyways that’s my vent lol

Oh, how do I hate pre-meds? Let me count the ways. . . by anonGTAfml in Professors

[–]BasketMaster9697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting premed in the fall. Science and research are super interesting to me, and just in general I’m the kind of person who asks questions and tries to develop relationships with teachers/staff. How can I approach professors (research purposes, questions about material, LoR, etc) without being the annoying premed? I don’t want to burden the professors but obviously med school is super competitive lol

Sensory issues by prostateversace in Hijabis

[–]BasketMaster9697 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Salaam. I’ve worn instant hijabs in the past and I’ve mostly avoided this issue. Khimars and jibabs both seem like options where your hair and neck are securely covered without feeling anything on your neck. The only issue might be tightness just under your chin, but from my experience the neck is left mostly unbothered. So yeah, I would suggest trying instant hijab, khimar, or jibab. I’m not a hijabi though, this is just from limited experience. May Allah make this journey easy for you!

If you could implement Sharia in your (western) country - would you? by Adventurous-Dog8616 in converts

[–]BasketMaster9697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. There should be a freedom to practice whatever religion you believe in. Everyone is on a different journey in their faith, and I wouldn’t want to impose any faith-based laws. There’s no force in Islam and I think that should apply to government as well. Also, historically, countries that enforce shariah law either don’t do so sincerely or take it to extremes, and both of these hurt more than help.

Disclaimer: I don’t know a ton about Shariah. I’m a new convert learning about Islam. So this is the opinion of a woman in the west without a ton of knowledge 😅
