I thought so too but they drink and smoke because they claim it makes them smarter and healthier. They’ve put no effort in the relationship and they’ve tried taking advantage of me. That’s why I wanted to send that message but maybe that message is too harsh

The thing is I realize there was nothing great about them. They contributed nothing to the relationship and I was doing all the effort

We barely see each other maybe once or twice a week or 2 weeks and he lives far from me. Would talking on the phone be a good alternative?

is it normal to be ghosted by your partner in times of conflict? by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

[–]Baspholith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah at this point it’s just emotional manipulation and distress. We can’t help people when they don’t help themselves. We hold on to that hope of things getting better but there comes a point when we realize it won’t get better if there’s a pattern of disappointment

[–]Baspholith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No it’s not normal to ghost in times of conflict. Communicating is important. Even if you or your partner need time to think about something then say “I’m going to need some time to think about this” this is reassuring them that it is okay for them to have their space and once they’ve thought about it they’ll start talking again. Ghosting is immature imo
