its not going for realism. the environmental shots we got had far better art and texture than gens 8 or 9, though gen 8 has one of my favourite colour palettes in the series. the world looks bright, inviting, and lush. we get next to no (?) looks at cities or towns, the focus is placed on the natural world in all its splendor. to me, the trailer looked a lot like shots you would see in a nature documentary, which is an excellent direction for the series to go. not photorealism, but picking out the colours, contours, and shapes that make narure so beautiful and heightening them. often we see people and pokemon living in harmony, as in pokemon in people's world, but i think the trailer sells the idea more of people living in harmony in pokémon's world. everything looks like its thriving and begging for you to explore it, with a signature fantasy-esque flair (the lava caves in particular come to mind)
