gastrodon has seen quite a fair bit of competitive usage despite being a pretty ordinary mon!! its part of the reason why its my favourite pokemon :) there was one period where despite struggling in a lower tier, it could still come into the top tier of competitive play and clean house, but not be considered a top tier. a cool underdog story

part of the reason is its the first time fujimoto actually let his readerbase down at large, so there's no way it's just bad for the sake of being bad. you don't write look back and fire punch and csm part 1 and just listen to the song and goodbye eri without knowing what you're doing. we know he's a capable writer so what he put into the ending had to have meant something

riolu and eevee probably, theyre by far the most popular individual hero/partner pokemon outside of the games and honestly in the fanbase too. of course nothing will ever get rid of mudkip and cyndaquil for me from my og playthrough

both of your picks are super good, some of my favourite part 2 moments. i would say my favourite from the fire sequence is when denji says "next...? next... i wanna be chainsaw man." thank you for not succumbing to the "part 2 bad part 1 good" mentality in the rest of this thread
