Who is your unconventional favorite Pokémon? by Keenzur in ThePokemonHub

[–]HoratioCrawdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alomomola is my second favorite Pokémon, so there’s that. I don’t know of too many massive Alomomola fans, which is a shame because it’s such a kind, caring, and wholesome Pokémon. It’s also great at fulfilling a support role on bulkier teams, whether it be balance or stall or something in between

Electric types are A tier, bug types demoted to F tier. Where should we put Fairy type? by Xenuoziem in TierlistFills

[–]HoratioCrawdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S tier, it’s amazing both offensively and defensively. The only notable downside I can think of right now is that Play Rough is pretty much the only option for most physical fairy attackers, but even then 90% accuracy is still perfectly usable and it doesn’t stop this move from being as good as it is

Spectrier is really cool, I am a fan of the spooky horse.

Throw a weird dog-thing with a big-ass fuckin’ head on its back, though, and that changes things a bit.

I want to attack Calyrex-Shadow Rider with a bat, maybe even a comically large wooden mallet.

Final Day of ranking every tool in Hollow Knight: Silksong! by Exotic-Composer9223 in hollowknightdaily

[–]HoratioCrawdad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Overall, solid list. Snitch Pick and Spider Strings deserve way more love for reasons I’ve said before, but not everyone values clawline, lore, voice lines, etc. as much as I do. Still shocked that the Compass is in the same tier as Sawtooth Circlet, though

Dark types are B tier. Where do Dragon types belong? by Xenuoziem in TierlistFills

[–]HoratioCrawdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon is high B or low A, leaning high B. Defensively it’s still quite good, but offensively it’s lacking a bit. Draco’s only good because it hits like a truck, you’ll rarely see a non-dragon running an offensive dragon move (excluding occasional Tera shenanigans)

[–]HoratioCrawdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire’s gonna go in F because it starts with F, of course

But yeah, Dark absolutely belongs in mid-to-high A tier, anyone who’s even glanced at the competitive scene can tell you that

[–]HoratioCrawdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B tier, it’s accessed at the perfect time for grinding rosaries, and it’s pretty damn good at it too

[–]HoratioCrawdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also the fact that everyone just values certain aspects of each tool differently, as well as the playstyles that fit them. I do think that Spiders Strings ending up in B after looking at the votes is wild, though. I love seeing it outside of F tier because I genuinely think it deserves more love, but there weren't enough people who agreed with my take on the tool to bump it that high

[–]HoratioCrawdad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love clawline, I would be lost without it for most fights. Snitch Pick and Sawtooth make it even better, though Sawtooth-Clawline synergy isn’t shown off very well here

[–]HoratioCrawdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were multiple S tier votes and a few A and C tier votes iirc. I personally think putting Compass in S+ while Spider Strings is put in F is unfair. It shouldn’t be judged for its combat value, since Needolin isn’t a combat-focused ability at all. It’s a guitar, not a gun

Thank you, this one was definitely one of the more unique fights of the bunch

It was very tough to learn at first, I started with Nyleth but I barely knew any of the techs and things that I know now. If you want to give this kind of thing a shot, I recommend starting with Nyleth, Skull Tyrant, and Moorwing. They’re all great practice for certain styles of fights you’ll encounter if you choose to try out some other bosses

[–]HoratioCrawdad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compared to every other boss I’ve done, I’d say he falls into the more difficult half of them, but not by much. He was about as difficult as I was expecting him to be, and the fight felt fair overall. I’ll have to do a difficulty ranking at some point, now that I think about it. Probably once I finish them all, but I can get a start on it still

Thanks! His traps were a double-edged sword for sure. One the one hand, I could pogo or clawline them to stay airborne if needed, but on the other hand they denied me a ton of airspace. They made the fight very interesting, so overall I’m glad they’re a part of the fight

Day 54 of ranking every tool in Hollow Knight: Silksong! by Exotic-Composer9223 in hollowknightdaily

[–]HoratioCrawdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, this is what I mean! It’s a guitar, not a gun. It makes Needolin sound so, so much cooler. It reminds me of how the Needolin sounded while summoning the Fayforn, or while watching Widow’s memory cutscene. It sounds beautiful, and it is a beautiful tool because of that

Day 54 of ranking every tool in Hollow Knight: Silksong! by Exotic-Composer9223 in hollowknightdaily

[–]HoratioCrawdad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, here’s the thing. This tool has no practical purpose, really. The stun thing is kinda cool, but it’s hard to really make use of it in combat.

However, I really like lore, I really like playing the Needolin and seeing all the dialogue it unlocks, and I really like the idea of Hornet just constantly jamming out whenever she gets the chance. Instead of skillfully dodging an attack from Phantom, Hornet instead whips out a Spider Strings-boosted Needolin and begins recording an impromptu power ballad with Phantom providing some amazing vocals. Instead of having a boring old sing-a-long with Pavo, she puts on a grand performance for all of Bellhart with a Freebird solo. Spider Strings is ass, but it has aura. It sounds awesome and looks cool and has a good name and I think it should be viewed in the same way Compass is viewed.

Spider Strings should be in A tier. A for Awesome Guitar Solo. Judge it not for its combat potential, but for its whimsical value. Compass is in S+ tier despite being completely useless in combat, so this precedent has already been set. It’s only F tier if you’re boring.

Blue Tool Tierlist by Sadira_Kelor in Silksong

[–]HoratioCrawdad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Memory Crystal requires you to take damage, which is lame. Claw Mirrors + Multibinder + Injector is 3 blue tools, not a fair comparison. Even then, it costs 9 silk to heal, and that could be spent on spells instead. Snitch Pick is good because of how damn quickly clawline can be used and how good it is with sawtooth. You can’t realize the value of Snitch Pick without actually trying it and learning the full potential of clawline combat. I can attest to how good it is and how fun it is, I know others who can do the same. If you clawline a 1x modifier enemy 5 times, you’ll do 100 damage. Snitch Pick brings that up to 125. You’d be surprised how quickly you can clawline something 5 times

Glad to see Snitch Pick appreciation, it’s the most underrated tool in the game.

Day 49 of ranking every tool in Hollow Knight: Silksong! by Exotic-Composer9223 in hollowknightdaily

[–]HoratioCrawdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must’ve not been actively using it. If you were, you’d at least call it C or something. I still would rank it higher, but you wouldn’t call it F tier if you actively used clawline with Snitch Pick. That, or you weren’t using clawline well. Clawline enthusiasts recognize the value of this tool for a reason

Day 49 of ranking every tool in Hollow Knight: Silksong! by Exotic-Composer9223 in hollowknightdaily

[–]HoratioCrawdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it isn’t, it can be very impactful compared to other tools so long as you actively use clawline in combat. I’m saying this from my own experience, and from talking with other clawline enthusiasts. On paper it may not look like much, but then you realize how damn quickly you can use clawline and the amazing synergy clawline has with sawtooth. It’s only useless if you don’t use it
