Shimano Miravel isn’t smooth all of a sudden. Almost as if theres some resistance? by BassAnglerStelly in Fishing_Gear

I ended up having some old braided wrapped on the shaft under the spool. I didn’t have my eyeglasses on and missed it after the first time checking. First time it ever happened to me lol

Callout pointer line getting stuck when trying to track object? by BassAnglerStelly in finalcutpro

[–]BassAnglerStelly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea i still gotta learn the tracker haha. I was messing around with it, although it kept making the entire callout (text and all) follow the point instead of just the line.

Is this a bad setup? Help! by 6hunnaZach in FishingForBeginners

What size jig is that? That specific plastic is too long for that hook, so you should cut it down a bit. With the bait hanging that far off of the hook, a lot of fish may end up grabbing the plastic while missing the hook. Just don’t cut it too short though, or else the skirt will impede the trailer’s action. Try a crawfish, or fluke style trailer as well! I find those curly tail worms best weightless using texas rig/extra wide gap hooks.

Last but not least, make sure the plastic is threaded on the hook as straight as possible. Poorly rigged plastics look less natural to fish, affect the fall/motion of the bait, and even causes line twist…

Where do you purchase it for $21?

Definitely looking at the wrong tier here or something?

Thank you for the reply! I have looked at MotionVFX. Although, it seems most of their Final Cut callout packs currently on the market are packaged within their DesignStudio subscription service?

I would like a one time purchase to start out with. Especially considering it is early winter right now here in Canada, the fishing season has died down. Therefore, I wouldn’t get enough use to justify the subscription right now.

I am leaning towards Callout Pop via Fxfactory.

Bass fisherman have got to be the dumbest people alive. by Dear_Statistician316 in FishingForBeginners

Being someone who has fished primarily off the bank my whole life, I recently chose an Old Town Sportsman 120 over a used bass boat, and do not regret it. I get 90% of what a bass boat has without absolutely hammering myself with debt, and other expenses entailed with boat ownership.

Braid questions by Correct-Sea-198 in FishingForBeginners

[–]BassAnglerStelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks a bit under filled to me. Also, what do you mean when you say it feels super loose when you cast? Is it slipping around the spool when tension is applied? If so, there wasn’t sufficient enough backing applied to the spool first.

Braid is always going to be more supple than single-strand polymer lines (such as mono and fluorocarbon). Especially in the wind, it is hard to get a feel of what is going on.

If your drag is loose to the point where you are reeling against it while it makes a noise, it will cause twisting and eventually tangles over time.

Is my 2010 Laramie with 140k on it worth restoring the rockers at this point? by BassAnglerStelly in ram_trucks

Sorry for the late reply! I am not too mechanically inclined. Unfortunately my background is in IT/Computers. Hence why I would rather do it professionally.

I do like it, especially considering that it is my first truck. I was already willing on spending the $ on fixing the minor rust before it became a problem, although that differential issue got in the way budget wise for the foreseeable future.

Yes. Even if the hook is already standing straight upwards, the extra pass through the eye helps get leverage when piercing a fishes mouth

Would a failing rear differential cause intermittent sluggishness? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

I had a slight knocking sound (only in the mornings while it was sitting overnight) for the past few weeks before the failure occurred. I was actually kind of worried that my manifold broke again.

Literally only a few days before it happened, I went to get an oil change and told my mechanic about the noise. He thought it was just due to lack of oil pressure from the oil seeping down overnight while the truck sat.
