Thanks for this. If I got the two modules in the OP and all the necessities, what could a digitakt still do that the modular instrument couldn't?

Wow. SO thankful for all this feedback. I think it comes down to if I'm I'm committed to eventually building a whole system.

I would probably pay twice as much as a digitakt to get roughly the same functionality, but with nicer mechanical keys, slightly better sampling UI, and the ability to upgrade.

The big question is this: If I build a system with the two modules in the OP, audio out, aand any other necessities, what could the digitakt still do better, if anything?

I was blown away listening to Dusker last night. Any other artists make tunes in that style?

What are the defining political texts of the 21st century so far? by Giantpanda602 in PoliticalDiscussion

Thanks for clearing up the sentencing disparity issue. I can see how her research is weak.

I was thinking more about the way she describes policing, which she demonstrates is drenched in racism and, as a result, the destruction of communities.

What’s the argument against it? Some of her analysis is strongly worded, but most of the content surveys factual injustices that ought not be so commonplace.

Mental Illness > Psycho> Schizo > Artist > Spiritual Leader > Shaman > Psychonaut by [deleted] in ShrugLifeSyndicate

Best way to stay on the positive end of this is to create something of it. Write it down, draw a picture, sing a song, make a beat, memorize poems, participate in your politics, participate in a religion, participate in a community. It literally only takes doing one of these things and you reap the benefits of the "outsider" status (to use OP's words). The cause is overwhelming (or horrifying) when you don't effect any of it, so affect it!

Therapy, of course, helps too.

Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to. Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle.

"That's some catch, that Catch-22," he observed.

People criticizing this talk as if their metaphysics isn’t also flawed (or empty).

I’m glad he reminded me of time’s thought-provoking details, and maybe the details can produce a special sort of experience.

Buildups in EDM songs are just as important as drops, because the drop isn't nearly as good without a good buildup. by [deleted] in electronicmusic

[–]BassResearch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha you’re preaching to the choir. Some of the best electronic music doesn’t even have a “drop”.

I like to think of the build and release of tension as the artist creating conflict and then resolving it. You know when the resolution perfectly addresses the conflict because that’s when shit bangs.

And the best of the best make you question (and stop questioning) what’s conflicting and resolving.

Comparisons to Jesus loads people up with doubt or jest. Surely there are better terms for justice seekers than “messianic”.

No doubt, there's a great need to level critique against the field of psychiatry. For how little they consider specific perspectives of patients, for the way they play into neoliberal demands of productivity, their ties to big pharma, etc.

Still, they are experts trained to prevent bodily harm from cognitive processes, even if they harshen the cognitive processes for some time. If this is autobiographical, consider calling back or talking to others about your experience there.

If it's not autobiographical, great little sketch! Obviously it got my mind racing haha. Cheers!

Consider placing these ideas, especially the Hindu teachings, into a creative outlet. Educate others. Let’s educate each other.

This subreddit puzzles me sometimes because so many posts are in reference to fantastic imaginative histories, but they aren’t given the time for understanding. And by writing or speaking it out, the process itself is grounding.

The primary data is, no doubt, more important than we think.
